If you are in the Rhode Island or Northeast Region of the US you should look into Dr. J. Giovanni and her team, they are AMAZING! Sherry and her staff, including PA Cobb are just really helpful, friendly, and kind. Not to mention supportive! It's been 3.5 years since my sleeve surgery, I've lost 120 pounds and could not be happier.

Contact Info for her team:

I'm a huge fan of Dr. Ryder and the rest of the Lifespan Baratric team over at the Collyer and Dudley street offices. Been going to her for almost 10 years now, they did my band in 2011, my revision to bypass this past March. Just a great group of folks!

Glad to see so many great doctors in such a small area!

I agree Matt! It's good to have choices, even in a small state like RI!

I have Malcolm Robinson from Brigham and Women’s in Boston but live in RI. Am looking to switch to RI - maybe the University Surgical group. Do you know of any good docs there?

I had a band in 2006, revisions to a sleeve in 2015, and now bad GERD. See Dr. Robinson tomorrow for results from several endoscopy tests and know he’ll recommend a by pass.

I second the original poster’s comment. I had Dr. Giovanni from Kent Hospital and her entire team is amazing!! I would highly recommend them!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
