I had my gastric bypass surgery at the end of January.. The first month is the worst. liquid diet and getting over the procedure. After that it's a breeze. There isn't much I can't eat. Avoid sugar. It upset your stomach and gives you gas. Beer is out too. The foam fill your stomach. I mostly drink vodka and Water with kool-aid drops.

I was 285 lbs before surgery. Now I'm down to 190 lbs

Stick to it and you'll be fine

Sure is, thought I had researched enough, knew everything ; anxiety to zero stools. Oh I was talking the talk, everybody said " Oh such a smart lady, SHE really has it together!" and I started the Post- surgery walk, and things were peachy. No post-surgery,pain, no gas, surgeon pleased, sent me home with a complementary fresh-mixed milky drink, gave me a virtual pat on the back and we,were off to the races. And I found I had a skill at giving myself Lovenox, a weird talent but mine, all mine. Then my entire abdomen turned purple and swelled, looked like I was carrying, an aliens baby. Went to have it evaluated the Tuesday after surgery, turned out benign but surgeon says Progress on to Stage 3 foods, you can handle it. He should have installed a teeny set of earphones on Precious Pouch, she disagreed and still disagrees. Since I really loathe upchucking, we are trucking on ,Stage 2,strained and cream Soups ( think I may have mushroom breath forever) Protein Shakes, sf popsicles, sf Jello and waters of various no cal ilk.
As long as I play things her way, it is peaceful, I am losing weight, 22 pounds since surgery, taking Vitamins, assigned minerals and meds. Light-headed, exercise some but not excessively, hate to topple over or fall, they say it's not blood sugar, IDK. But on October 12 I have an Exploratory EGD scheduled, we will see if Precious has a small stricture, or she just has a nasty disposition. True, she is but a turkey egg size bundle of gastric flesh, but she has elected herself Emperess of the World. Stay tuned for the next chapter of "Frustr8 battles the pouch" I'm sure it is more humorous to not live it!😛😐😛

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
