October 2018 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

I had my VGS surgery on 10/26. For the last 4 days I have not lost any weight and I am just drinking Protein Shakes, creamed Soup and Water. I am at a stall, is this happening To anyone else. Feeling very frustrated [emoji20]
Keep with it! I had the same experience. I lost 13lbs in the first 10 days. Then I stalled for a week. Today the scale finally moved again. Your body is just freaking out and thinks you're starving. Stick to plan, the scale will move. Drove me nuts. We have yo get used to plateaus as we lose. I just never expected it so soon.

Same time frame, same results for me too. I had a lap-band for ten years and i know that sometimes they say it can be a little slower if you've had the band. I'm assuming it's because we are somewhat used to the restriction already. I don't mind slow and steady as long as it doesn't come to a permanent halt!

So great to hear it's similar for someone else. xx

So guys... talk to me about poop/constipation. I am wondering if this is slowing down my weight loss!

@Butterflydreams my nutritionist told me that if you are not getting enough in nothing would come out. But I'm taking milk of magnesia today to see what happens. Its been more than a week for me.

Should be slimy, Brown and hard to wipe, but you will do a little something. I am the 9 week wunderkind of the liquid WORLD, I am SO SO TIRED of this stage of affairs, maybe Precious Pouch will be quasi-anorexice, nauseous the rest of her strictured stomafied life? My great fear? They will decide this needs open surgery intervention. Have they said so? No but I do have the right to be a little paranoid by now, my surgery days twins. are WAY AHEAD OF LITTLE ME!

I thought the same. I took colace every day and eventually senekot (both surgeon approved). Took me 12 days after surgery to finally go. Didn't help on the scale like I really had expected it to!

Just wanted to say "hi" to everyone- I just discovered this site!

I was sleeved on 10/17 and things seem to be going well, except I haven't lost anything in 10 days! I lost 15 pounds right off the bat (down 25 including pre-op diet) and now... nothing for 10 days. It's freaking me out even though I KNOW I'm still healing.

Very glad to find this place of support and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Hi KT1981! Welcome to the site. It’s a great site for support and if you have questions. I had my sleeve done on 10/16. I’m trying to only weigh myself once a week. Lots of people have said it’s very common to not lose anything in week three because you’re body is trying to figure out what on earth is happening!

Best of luck to you!

Anyone else get nauseous from Protein Drinks? I’m having a hard time getting my Protein with the Premier Protein shakes that I LOVED pre op. Too sweet and creamy. 😢

Yes, I do. I can’t even get down shakes that I make myself. I was noticing that I was able to get my fluids or Protein in any given day but not both. I have since started drinking protein waters and they are the perfect solution!

Two-week postop tomorrow, even though I had surgery on 10/30 🤷‍♀️ I can’t wait for the ok to eat soft foods since my bday is on Saturday the 10th...fingers crossed 🤞
My surgery went pretty well, I mean since I’ve been home I didn’t need to use the pain killers and nausea meds they prescribed but unfortunately I got asthmatic bronchitis right after surgery and am also on steroids and antibiotics which delays the healing process but besides that I am doing great!
What were the first soft foods you guys tried that wasn’t too heavy?

My first soft food was an egg but I hear that it doesn’t go down well for most. I’ve had some ground beef with my ricotta bake the last few days. I’m going to try some tuna salad today!

That’s almost exactly when mine happened. Completely normal. Mine picked back up with 1lb + a day weight loss. Just keep on focusing on water/protein goals.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
