October 2018 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Still scheduled for the 29th. Started my liquid diet today. TMI ALERT: And, of course, I also am starting my period. Which means I started my day with a Migraine and will likely want ALL of the food. Just my luck.

Still thinking about whether I really want to go through with this. Talking to my therapist tomorrow and need to make a decision. I'll do the liquid diet until I decide for sure. In the meantime, I'm stocking up on various Protein powders, etc.

Went to the hospital's support group last night and it was REALLY stressful. Lots of people talking over each other at the same time, lots of chaos. It just isn't well run. I'm required to go, but it was so stressful (not even the stuff people were saying, but just the noise and having 10-15 people all answering anyone's question at once). Made me nauseous just being there.

But Good NewsFlash, you will be over Aunt Flo in time for the Surgical Good Times to Roll! Better this than waking up in Alabama with the Crimson Tide a-rolling! 😝Happy Joy Joy😝

I did have that thought - especially since I'm early and was scheduled to have it DURING surgery, which clearly would have been worse. :)

I just got mine two weeks later and I wasn’t due for it! Maybe something to do with the surgery??

Is anyone else experiencing muscle jumps while sleeping? It feels almost like a jolt, and I’m having it in my arms, legs, abdomen but never all at one time.
Are you still on pain meds? I found that whenever I took the strong pain meds my doctor sent me home with I would have muscle spasms

I am still on the pain meds. Without it my incisions hit too much. I am starting to take half doses today. Maybe that will help. Thanks!

Yes, as soon as I stopped the pain meds the muscle spasms went away. Hopefully yours is the same way!

I keep reading about people having difficulty swallowing sips of water/fluid and I am having none of that. I can't/don't guzzle, but can swallow mouthfuls (about three swallows worth of/per mouthful) consecutively with seconds in between. Again, I fear that I had the placebo sleeve! 😒😅😁

Same feelings, lol. I haven't had a problem at all with liquids.

Hello everyone. I had my surgery 10/10. I have gotten over almost all of my surgery pain. But today I have had lots of stomach cramps. It’s not like it was when I had diarrhea from full liquid diet. It’s just ongoing cramps all day. Anyone else have that happen or can tell me why or what i can do

Hello. I'm a 10/15 sleeve myself. Have chronic neck pain and can't take NSAIDS for 8 weeks according to the doc. All we can take is extra strength Tylenol which doesn't do nuch. I haven't had headaches but feel your pain.

I will have my surgery on the 29th and have to stop taking Aleve on monday. I take 880mg and am worried about dealing with my arthritis and fibromyalgia pain without it.

I’m wrapping up at work and heading to the airport. Surgery tomorrow morning. Nobody knows I’m going except my BariatricPal buddies, my PCP and my surgeon! Thank you all for being awesome. Scared, excited, ready!! Catch you on the flip side 😜
Hi All - I made it! I felt really prepared based on all of you having shared your experiences.

I was super emotional in the hour or two before my surgery yesterday, I was terrified, but climbed up on the table and got it done!!

I’ve been sleeping lots and pain is well controlled... very little incision pain, just gas pain mostly in my back.Still on Clear Liquids and I never knew diluted apple juice could taste so good. haha.

Tips that I picked up here that served me well included bringing the following things...
Heating pad ( has been so good on my sore back)
Chap stick
Extension cord
Phone and charger
Slippers

Off to sleep some more - it still feels kind of surreal that I actually had the guts to do this 🙃

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
