notmyname 593 Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) I had my 3 month post-op last week (even though I'm not at 3 months until the 29th). So far, I've lost 64.5 total, 57.2 since the pre-op diet, and 43.2 since surgery. Averaging 3.1 lbs weekly - including the week after surgery when I lost 8 and a coupe weeks when I lost 1-2. Lost 34.2% of my excess weight. So far, I'm pretty pleased with my progress. I have reflux (not a big surprise, but sucks anyway) and my hair has started to fall out (I have curly hair and I've lost a couple of complete curls). But, other than the fact that I can't yet eat cruciferous veggies, I'm doing well. I miss eating more veggies (I'm a pescatarian and my dinners used to be huge stir fries), but I'm slowly able to increase my veg intake. So, all in all, so far, so good. A couple weeks ago a friend asked if I was happy with my decision. I had to answer that I really won't know for a couple years. For me, it's pretty easy to be happy with these early easy losses. The proof will be if I can use this tool to keep it off. Edited January 17, 2019 by notmyname 2 GirlShrinking and Alpaca55 reacted to this
aussiemomdinoaunt 184 Posted January 19, 2019 Hi all! So I had my 3 month follow up on the 17th! They had me down 40.7 lbs from my surgery weight! Dr was really happy with me since all of my labs came back normal, everything was within range and looked great! With being diagnosed with CD prior to surgery, it was good to see all my inflammatory response labs were now normal again too! It was a good day overall. We also talked about how my body was different and what I have been eating and all my goals. For starters: I maybe get 30g of Protein a day, around 20g of carbs a day, and I don't take my Vitamins. I drink Kombucha to keep my gut moving on the regular, and propel in my Water to keep my sodium and potassium up. They were on the lowest level of normal anyway since I have so little sodium in my diet. He also told me I need to snack, and eat every 2-3 hours because my average calorie intake is around 700, and he agreed that wasn't enough for all my activities. My hair isn't falling out, I haven't been constipated, I haven't "stalled" for more than 3 days, and my blood protein levels were perfect. I am different from you. You are different from everyone else. No ones journey is the same, and what works for some doesn't work for others. For example, my longest stall of 2 weeks was when I was hitting my protein goals daily. But I was drinking it. My body doesn't do well with Meal Replacement shakes or Protein Shakes. It does great with meats, cheese, nuts, and food products. So now we wait for my 6mo appointment, and he wants to see me down another 20 lbs. That'll put me in the 160's and be my lowest weight in my adult life. Darn good goal, and I'm going to fight for it! Good luck on your journey everyone! Jolexis 203 Posted January 19, 2019 I think I'm getting an ulcer. I finished up my PPI regimen a few weeks ago, and I had a feeling this would happen. [emoji29] I'm trying to control it with diet right now but I dont know if the pain will go away without getting back on the PPI or taking something like carafate. I was really trying to limit my ppi use.Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
JessaK 59 Posted January 23, 2019 I’m exactly 3 months out today & down 53 pounds! 40% of my excess weight gone. I’m not new to Bariatric surgery but I had a band before so the weight loss was never fast like this. In fact, with the band it took 7 years for me to master it and loose substantial weight. I have had my blood work ran last week-holy cow-It was 12 vials! My lab was flustered. I will find out the results at my follow up appointment on the 31st. 2 Chrissy C and aussiemomdinoaunt reacted to this

I will find out the results at my follow up appointment on the 31st. I wish my doc would run bloodwork before my appointments. Instead, he runs the tests after. And at least the last time (the first time he's done bloodwork), I just got a notification that my results were on the secure server. I'd strongly prefer to have him run what he know's he'll run before my appointment so that we could discuss. I asked his PA if he does that and she said no
CrankyMagpie 509 Posted January 24, 2019 Hey, y'all! It seems like a lot of folks are doing really well here at the 3 month mark. ❤️ I had my 3-month follow-up, and I guess everything's fine, as far as the doc is concerned (they don't do labs until 6 months, so it was just a chatting appointment). I'm on Prilosec and Actigal until the 6 month mark. Usually getting in my Protein, usually getting enough Water, usually getting my Vitamins, but still being human and living my life. I've lost a truly upsetting amount of hair, and I hope the losses stop soon. My daily vitamins have Biotin in them, so I'm really hoping it all comes back in eventually. Bmanns01 91 Posted January 30, 2019 Had my 3 month follow up Monday. The surgeon says I'm doing good but I just feel so disheartened. I was 238lbs on 10/29 when I had surgery and yesterday I was still 201. I SO wish I could get to onederland! I've followed all the rules, I walk a minimum of 4 miles three days a week (or more), and I'm still following my surgeons 2 oz meal plan. I just really thought I would be further by now. I hate to complain because I am losing (37 lbs in three months) but I can't help but think that if I was working out this much and eating this little before surgery I wouldve had the same results (or slightly better). I don't regret the surgery really, I just regret everything I had to give up for such disappointing results. 😕 4 Chrissy C, Alpaca55, hillnicole34 and 1 other reacted to this

I was 209 the day of surgery (10/29) and now I'm 178. I only lost 31 lbs. I workout and eat right but our bodies just do as it feels. I was stuck in the 180's for so long I started to feel sad about it and then Sunday I got on the scale and was 4 lbs lighter. I had to watch my carbs. My NUT said I should only have 20 grams of carbs per day. I was having more than that. I changed my carbs and 4 lbs came off. Check to see if you are eating to many carbs and if so change it for a few days to see if that helps Sent from my Galaxy Note 9 1 1 Bmanns01 and aussiemomdinoaunt reacted to this
Yvonne47 86 Posted January 30, 2019 I'm in the same boat had surgery 10/26 I've lost 36lbs so far I told my Dr and she said its way better for it to go slowly because the faster you lose it the faster you'll gain it back. She begged me not to get discouraged it will be fine because I was worried as well I thought I should have lost at least 50lbs by now. I've been in numerous of stalls don't know why but they are frustrating and I was driving myself crazy getting on the scale every morning. So now I'm now getting on only every 2 weeks or so. Hopefully by my birthday in march ill be down at least another 15lbs 🙏. So its happening to a few of us so we all can keep each other encouraged. 3 1 laughinglaurie1@yahoo.com, Chrissy C, aussiemomdinoaunt and 1 other reacted to this
Bmanns01 91 Posted January 30, 2019 @Chrissy C my nutritionist uses percentages (macro breakdowns) and calorie counting. I'm supposed to stay under 1000 calories and I am supposed to have a minimum 40% Protein intake, and a maximum 30% fat and 30% carb breakdown. Usually my carbs are between 15/20% but even that is more than 20g. (My morning oatmeal makes up most of my carbs at 25-28g per serving.) Maybe I do need to change things up a bit though. (I tend to eat the same things over and over) @Yvonne47 my surgeon said the same thing Monday. (That losing slow was better) but I'm only 5'1" so my goal weight is still 72-77 lbs away. I'm afraid that the further out I get from surgery (and the slower the weight loss becomes), the more frustrated I'm going to get. I really thought exercising would help but so far there hasn't been a change in my weight loss. 2 Chrissy C and aussiemomdinoaunt reacted to this
