October 2018 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Good morning everyone,

I hope you all are feeling amazing 🙂

I am on the soft food stage and was wondering how much food you guys eat.

I have 1/4 to 1/2 cup and do feel hungry an hour or so later.

Also, do you feel hungry? My doctor said I’m not supposed do feel hungry but I do. I’m a little embarrassed to tell him though 🙈 just concerned that I picked the wrong surgery

I have the sleeve too. They have us eating 6 mini-meals a day (couple of ounces) so I'm rarely hungry. If I am, I just eat a couple bites of yogurt or drink a couple ounces of Protein Shake. It's totally normal to be hungry. Some people are, some people aren't with the sleeve.

Thanks, do you eat every 2-3 hours? I feel I do better if I have 5-6 small meals a day too.

I do the same thing. 6-8 small meals a day, low carb, around 600 calories. Still no raw fruits or veggies so the carbs are pretty low. And a cup of liquid between each meal/snack. It's like I'm eating or drinking something every hour. I had also tried the three meals a day thing which is what my program wants but I got hungry (mostly just head hungry) and tended to overeat when I did eat. Splitting it all up really helps me. I go back to work next week and it's going to take a lot of planning and prep but I plan to stick with it this way. I'm following all the requirements of the program except the frequency of meals. I did a lot of research and all programs are so so different! We have to determine what works for us to be successful. I'm not at all saying disregard the requirements of your bariatric team...I'm saying tweak slightly as needed. [emoji8]

Thanks for the input. I am gonna try to have t least 6 meals today and see how it goes. My doctor says to have 5 meals a day being 3 meals and 2 Snacks all below 200 calories and 5g of fat or less. I eat 4-5 times and feel hungry, I think I need more because I wake up at 5am and go to bed at 10-11pm plus walk 50 minutes on the treadmill. I'll definitely try the 6 meals or more today...Thanks :)

You lost 50 pounds in less than a month?! Kudos to you!

Sorry that you had to go through a lot of complications, hope you’re feeling better now.

I started on soft food but ate some solid with some sort of sauce on it and it’s been fine. I felt very tired the first few days due to lack of Water, but now I am doing everything I’m supposed to with no problem. I did have some trouble with mashed potatoes that got me sweaty and feeling like I had a ball in my tummy almost threw up, other than that fine. I do feel hungry even though the doctor said I wouldn’t 🤷‍♀️

I was sleeved on 10/30 and have lost 17 pounds since.

I did, but I just realised that I posted in the wrong topic lol I am not a sleever... I had gastric bypass surgery 🙄

Hi. I am scheduled for December 11, but have a question for you guys who have already been through surgery. How soon before surgery did you stop taking medications such as Celebrex? Were there any other medications that you were required to stop taking prior to surgery? Or get other formula for - liquid? I don’t see my doc for pre-op until 2 weeks out and I don’t want there to be any surprises that might postpone surgery.
The only thing I stopped taking was my blood pressure med and that was only on the day of surgery.. was instructed by the drs team. But ya.. ask your surgeon, but for me I didnt have to stop any of my meds.

Happy note.. yesterday I found out the light headedness I was feeling in the last week or two was caused by my being overly medicated.. so in one month my blood pressure medication.. one has been completely removed and the other is now half of the strength I was taking before.. pretty cool.. and I had my surgery on 10/22.

My surgeon recommended the bypass because I have acid reflux but I picked the sleeve because it doesn't mess with our anatomy so much, but he said that if I don't loose 50% of my weight at the end of 12 months I should consider bypass because the surgery wasn't successful. I have lost 21% of my excess weight so far and doing the math, I think I'll surpass the 50% and hopefully reach my personal goal weight by 1 year...I think we are just a little anxious and wanting the weight to come off in no time but we will get there. This journey is all about, changing your mindset, habits and lifestyle, the surgery was just the push for us to get there...we can do this!

My surgeon recommended the sleeve plus it had less risk health wise. I need to increase my food and Water intake

I had reflux too and had the sleeve done. I had a fairly large hiatal hernia which they attribute the reflux too. That was fixed during the surgery!

I have reflux and my surgeon also recommended bypass, but after some tests said the sleeve would be OK, so that's what we did. I'm surprised your doc said to do a revision if you don't lose 50% - my doc said I'd only have to do revision if my reflux became intolerable. he said that only something like 10% of sleevers get worse reflux and 4-6% of sleeves need to be revised to bypass. Even if I "only" lose 50%, I'll be delighted. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd love to lose more, but I'd be fine if the ultimate loss is the average 60% EWL.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
