Hey there! Just had my surgery Oct. 29 and feel super alone right now. I didn't have much pain, just a lot of nausea. Had to stay in the hospital an extra day from the vomitting but now its much better, although not gone completely.

Sorry you feel that way! Don't feel alone we are here for you, with you! You can pm me anytime!!! I was sleeved 10/23 so we aren't too far apart. The nausea is absolutely the worst; worse than any pain, imho. I had it super bad as well. For me I wasn't able to start Vitamins until the Soup stage at 2 weeks. Even this week I have had occasional nausea and had to take a pill for it. The soup was such a relief from the gross sickly sweet Protein Shake, ..BLAH!!! I am looking forward to my soup time, lol. Hang in there things will get better everyday. Hugs to you.

What are some of your plans for thanksgiving or holiday meals? Any thoughts ideas on eating with family or meal preparations and recipes beforehand?

I plan to eat turkey (dark meat) with gravy, the cooked veggies (collard greens), and maybe a bite of sweet potatoes. I am on soft foods.

Thanks! This is exactly what I am doing although there was very little like a drop of discharge on the bandage this morning kind of light yellow that's why I got worried.

I had the same thing. If irs just a little drop, I wouldn’t be to concerned!

Sleeve 10/29. lunch today - 4 oz TJ's tomato/feta Soup with 4 oz Water. Put in a blender, then strained through a sieve and heated up. Yum! Unfortunately, the first time I tried this, I tried to add a little Protein powder and it clumped. Anyone know how to incorporate Protein Powder into Soup without it becoming a gross clumpy mess?

Question - I'm walking a couple times a day. I was measuring by the laps around my row of townhomes. I've now put on my fitbit, but not sure if I should set step goals or what they should be. How is everyone setting their walking goals after surgery (I'm not yet a week out). Thanks!

Hi notmyname. I put the Protein powder in the blender or use an immersion blender and that breaks up the clumps of protein powder.

Don’t stress about the walking. You sound like you’re doing great. I’d say, if you feel you can go further, then walk a little more. If you have an iPhone, I know there is a pedometer on there or you can download an app that counts your miles. Hope that helps!

Thankfully nausea has subsided but I’m finding it so difficult to get my Water or food down. It feels like everything is kind of sticking right behind my breastbone. It feels weird and every sip makes me burp. I’m also so tired!! I’ve been walking for 10 min every few hours. Just struggling and looking for advice.

Hi golfgirlgettingthin. When did you have your surgery? I burped every time I drank something, for the first few days. It does go away. I know the feeling you mean when you drink. It feels like it’s sitting at the bottom of your esophagus and top of your stomach. Just take small sips and keep walking! That will help!

Good luck!

I had my surgery 10/17 and just made my first meal. I’m happy my stomach was pleased. 😊 Baked Tilapia with lime juice. I risked it with some Cajun spices- but not too spicy! (This is enough for three meals. I ate 1/3)

I had surgery the same day as you! However, I tried to eat 2oz of butternut squash soup for lunch and after getting 1 oz in, I was too full. So now, I havent been able to eat or barely drink since. Also, I am sooo weak its stupid. I get exhausted just going for a small walk. I don't really hurt anymore but boy my stomach is giving me fits. I think I probably should just stay on liquids another day or two and then try again with a soup. Anyway, you are my bariatric twinnie! lol

Mine was Very watered down - basically Tomato Soup flavored water. I have some butternut squash soup, but it has brown sugar in it, so I’m not going to try that. You’ll get there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
