katiemarie22 48 Posted October 2, 2018 Just finished my first day of preop liquid diet. It was hard. I didn’t like the tastes of things and found it hard to finish any of my meals. I have a bit of a headache but I’m not terribly hungry. I just have to remind myself that the ends will make some minor discomfort worth it. 1 Suesloosinit reacted to this
aapb79Gmail.com 69 Posted October 2, 2018 Had my surgery this morning and laying in hospital bed waiting for meds so thought I would share a bit... May surgery ended up to be a bit more complicated. Doctor found a hernia that needed to be repaired so He did that. Also, there was a significant amount of scar tissues In different areas they called adhesions that had to be removed. Surgery too 315 mins. I woke in recover in the most God awful pain, not trying to scare Antrim just being real, and I was hysterically crying. They think the “extra” stuff cause a lot more pain. They gave me plenty of pains meds. I rested in bed for the rest of the day until 845pm I thought I should try and get up to move and advoid has pains. I walked up and down one long hallway and that was enough for me for the first time but I did it. I am going in and out of sleep and was going to go home tomorrow. But with the extras my doctor said maybe a second night. I can’t wait to start to drink again. The ice chips aren’t doing it!!! I’ll keep everyone posted 1 3 JessLess, Grapefruit, CrankyMagpie and 1 other reacted to this
CrankyMagpie 509 Posted October 2, 2018 For folks starting the liquid diet, or like @katiemarie22, in the first few days, you might find that it helps you to get some salt (or if your team is like "bleh bleh low sodium," Bone Broth and sugar-free drinks with electrolytes) and stay VERY SUPER DUPER hydrated. Rule of thumb: if the sports drink tastes sweet and not salty, you need the electrolytes. @aapb79Gmail.com, thank you for the update, and I hope your nursing team keeps the pain under control from here on out! Yare_2018 14 Posted October 2, 2018 Hi guys I made to the other side. My surgery was yesterday around 11am. I got to hospital at 8am and immediately they took me to the preparation area. It tooks about 3hrs to get me ready for the operation room. Nurse, surgeon, anesthesia team talked to me one by one before surgery. At some point I got desperate bc I was so hungry and sleepy that I just wanted to be in the operation table. Besides the preparation process was very pleasant and informative my family and 2 friends got to meet all the persons that were going to take care of me during the surgery. I woke up around 5pm already in my room. The hungry pain felt so strong in my stomach that I even wasn't thinking on my surgery pain. The gas pain is another thing but I have to say that as soon your start walking you start releasing those gasses and the pain goes away significantly. I'm right now at the hospital and I should be heading home around 3pm, that what I've been told. That's my update so far. 3 relaxrelaterelease, Suesloosinit and CrankyMagpie reacted to this

xiolia 4 Posted October 2, 2018 Your taste will change a little bit songive them a chance after surgery. The Isopure was pretty good though, most of the flavors were really good. Some really not.

Hope your surgery goes well x @Lucybear22 I have never been to Derbyshire but I've heard its pretty...maybe next year when I come home =) I surprised myself with this liquid diet, I kept to my regular routine for my meals, (smoothie for Breakfast, cream Soup for lunch and broth soup for dinner) I miss chewing or crunching lol I have been thru the drive thru for my son a few times, cooked him meals too and did ok. I just made sure I had soups/broths and jellos that I liked on hand. These next 3 days with Clear Liquids are going to be the hardest I think. I cant have black coffee (I dont like it..I did try). Roll on next week and home with creamed Soups, what a thing to look forward to! =) Keep reminding yourself that you will be eating regular food again one day but just not what the others are putting away. I have to remind myself that I cant put as much as someone else away and thats probably what got me to this mess in the first place but I can enjoy good food just smaller plates and good friends =) I have only just told my Sister because of the possible negativity and didnt get any. I have kept most of it to myself and a friend or 2 but thats it...I control the chat on me =) The Dr told me no pain or nausea allowed so Im going in with that thought, and hope hes right =)

CrankyMagpie 509 Posted October 2, 2018 Got my call! 11:30am tomorrow. I am supposed to show up at 9:30, and they're going to let my partner back with me once I'm wearing the surgical gown and have my IV in. That's pretty much exactly what I'd hoped for. I have class until 9pm tonight, a half hour drive from home, so I was dreading them saying "come in at 5:30am" or something like that. Instead, I'll have several hours to toss and turn and not actually sleep, lol, and my spouse will be awake enough to function, getting me to the hospital. And we don't have to do our teary goodbyes out in the waiting room, with me contemplating my fate alone in between doctor visits--he can sit with me and chat until they roll me back into the OR. ❤️ I am so nervous. But I'm ready, too. I've done all the prep, so much reading. I was perfectly happy on the three month "practice" diet for phase three, and I feel good about that lifestyle. Over the past week I've followed the liquid diet religiously, no cheats. So the parts that are within my control, I know I can handle, and I really need to stop dwelling on the parts that are out of my control--I picked a really good surgeon, I'm in the best possible hands, there's nothing worry will do for me. 3 2 boringtessa, Suesloosinit, llrn90 and 2 others reacted to this
