Woke up this morning with the lowest energy. tried to get up and do a couple things around the house but I can't. I haven't felt this way since surgery. I wear a fitbit and have been getting around 7,000 steps walking the dogs twice a day. But today, I can't do much. Is this normal???

10 days since my surgery. Over all my Fluid intake hasn't been a problem. I drink more Water now, and like it, than before surgery. Can't understand why Protein is so difficult. I'm still on liquid diet until this Thursday ( can't wait) my doctor said I should be drinking 2 Protein Shakes a day. I can only complete 1. Yesterday I ordered some Protein Powder online and it will be here Tuesday. Am I able to use the protein powder with everything???

Well, part of it is normal. But I don't get why you can't get your 2 Protein Drinks down. It's 22oz over 24 hours. It's literally 1oz per hour if you had to? You can always thin them down a little with Fairlife milk if they taste too sweet or are too thick. Remember, they count toward your daily Fluid goal. So if it were me, I'd go for protein drinks first until you satisfy your protein goal.

I also would add protein drinks to cups of iced decaff coffee. Love me some BananaJoe decaff iced coffee. LOL. It completely cuts how sweet the Protein Drink is! I had Decaf from day 1 post surgery. It also counts toward your liquid goal.

I was totes exhausted for quite a while. I still have times when I am. But the things that will add to the tiredness are:

1. Dehydration (not getting as much fluid as you think you're getting).

2. Not getting your protein in.

3. Not taking your Vitamins. By your time, I was already taking all my vitamins and getting 60g of protein + 100oz of fluid and I was still a whipped tired-ass pup! Some of it is surgery recovery and recov from anesthesia too.

Just keep working on figuring out how to get your protein down. Oh and if cold doesn't work, then add it to hot beverages. Make hot chocolate even. Add it to decaf hot tea to make chai lattes, etc.You can do this!!

The first two weeks after surgery I was drained. From what I've read that's normal since your body is healing from a major trauma and you're getting less "fuel" into your system. It will pass.

Nap. Take naps, it helps with healing. And yes you WILL be exhausted, hit a wall. Dehydration makes you exhausted, not enough nutrition makes you exhausted. Try Bone Broth for Protein and Fluid, sf popsicles for fluids, Isopure ready-made blue raspberry or punch diluted w crystal light for protein and fluid. How many ounces of liquids are you getting in a day?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
