If you find similar articles, please add it to the thread so others and see more proof on why we should increase or water/fluid intake

Gosh, I wish I liked Water more. This is my biggest hurdle. I drink tons of Fluid but straight water. Not so much. I know it makes a difference. Ugh!

Did you see if they showed the optimal intake per day based on size? I didn't find it.

Nice study!

Great find!

I struggle with meeting my fluid goals. I'm just not a naturally thirsty person, so hydration takes a lot of effort. This helps me understand the importance of it more, thanks!

I still go back to this one for drinking. I can't tell you how much it's helped me from a satiety standpoint.

Pouch Rules For Dummies--which I can't find an active link to now. It's for mature pouches and sleeves, and shouldn't be used in the first 6 months.

But in a nutshell: Drink about 6-8oz of Water as quickly as possible. The take small sips to keep full to the point that you don't want to swallow any more. You do this about 15 minutes before a meal. Then drink nothing more until after you eat. Then you wait a minimum of 45 minutes to 2 hours until you drink again. At that point, you sip, sip, sip on water to fully hydrate your tool. It only works if you've been hydrating all along. So I roughly drink 1 bottle of water between 2hours after a meal and up to the 15 minutes before a meal. Then I drink another 1/2 bottle+ a little more to water load.

You can also use the water loading technique once you are healed fully (around 6 months) any time you're hungry or munchy. It will fill you up for about 15-30 minutes (or at least it does me).

By doing this you are getting all your water in, and you keeping yourself from being snakky. I can't tell you how many times I thought I was hungry, when I was actually thirsty. I am able to drink between 4-6 bottles of water a day (16.9floz).

No but I didn't read all of the primary sources this study was built around, the ones involving humans surely have that data

I guess there isn't an optimal intake based on size as I imagine there are other factors to be taken into consideration...climate, activity levels and intensity, etc.

Nice,

Does tea loading count? Lol I can never drink just one cup at a time

But honestly intermittent fasting has really helped me to be super mindful of water/fluid intake again, I was getting the minimum always but I knew I could do better

I say this alot on the confession threads, I can't tolerate poor quality water. It has to be specific type in order for me to handle it. You may need to find your range/type also.

I think I conditioned myself into not being a thirsty persons, lol, because I didn't want to be the co worker to use the bathroom constantly at a previous job, always needing coverage at crucial times.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
