Favorite Prep-Ahead Work/School Lunches?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I'm trying to plan ahead for my first week back with students after having some trouble staying on plan this past week at work. Workshop week before school starts up again is notoriously full of treats/snacks/foods and I wasn't as successful at avoiding them as I wanted to be. I've been saving tons of recipe and lunch ideas on pinterest, but I wanted to hear from all of you:

What do you prep ahead/plan ahead for your lunches? Any favorite grab-and-go meals for the work day/school day?

I would take 1-2 small Snacks + lunch. If you are on solids:

snack 1: 1 hb egg + 1/2oz blueberries

Lunch: 2-3oz dense Protein + 1-2oz cooked veg + 1tbsp WF Asian Vinaigrette (or WF Sesame Ginger Vinaigrette)

OR if you can

2-3oz dense protein + 1cup of mixed salad (mixed greens, peeled cucumber, rbp, red onion, radish, avocado, gr. tomatoes) + WF vinaigrette

Snack 2: 1 string cheese + 1/2oz almonds +/- 1oz Granny Smith apple with or without the peel

OR if you can

1 deli meat/cheese rollup with 1-2oz raw veg (baby carrots, peeled celery, cucumber, radish) + 2tbsp Lite Salad Dressing like Ranch or BC (I heart Boar's Head Reduced Sodium Lacy Swiss slices + BH blackened turkey + baby spinach or shredded cabbage and purple onions rolled up in a wrap. Then as I eat it I drizzle on WF Italian Dressing. I usually have 2-3 grape tomatoes, or 1 GT + 2-3 slices of cucs + 1-2 baby carrots.)

Boom. You're done. I eat some variation of these things every day for lunch. I "might" have 1 small snack if needed in the afternoon.

Hard boiled eggs, yogurts, fruits and veggies

So easy and portable

I like seaweed Snacks for salty snacks to replace chips

Turkey pepperoni and cheese cubes are my go-to Snacks. I pack a serving size of each in little containers for the week and grab them when I’m ready to go. So quick, easy and cheap!

Deli meat, tuna packets and the P3 Protein packs are also staples.

I guess I've got a strong will, I refused to touch any of those goodies.

I wasn't very successful planning meals. Mostly took leftovers from home for lunch, a cup of yogurt, and some extra Protein Shakes just in case.

And I did a very bad job of keeping up with my vitamins!

I returned to work after 1 week and it was Bone Broth and pre mixed shakes.
Tomorrow I start pureed foods and I've pre measured cottage cheese, yogurt, and a pureed ruben dip. I'll start my day with a pre mixed shake and the rest are measure into 2 oz containers

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
