ME TOO!!! I have lost nothing and I am afraid my doc will cancel surgery, which is in 4 days.

The purpose, in most cases, of that diet is not for you to lose weight but to shrink your liver so they don't run a chance of nicking it during surgery. It has nothing to do with your weight at time of surgery, generally.

Same!! I’m on day 5, and while I’ve lost some weight, it’s not falling off like others. (I’m on the two shakes, sensible meal plan). I think part of it is that I put on about 5 lbs in the time between my last nut appointment and my first day of pre-op, so I was already in the hole. (Wish I’d never heard of food funerals. Of course, I was like, that’s a great idea!). Now that I’m over the hunger hump and low energy, I’m going to up my walking to soo if that helps. It’s finally below 100 outside this week, so it won’t be such a beating! :)

I have to be on my pre-op for 5 weeks - I'm 3 weeks in and I have lost about 22 lbs but have totally stalled the last few days. I figure they told me what to eat, which I am doing, they didn't require a specific amount of weight lost so I am good.

I wouldn't worry - if you are following their plan, your liver is shrinking and getting healthier and that is all they really wanted.

My pre-op diet consisted of full liquids for two weeks. it was a bear, but I survived (with a mishap). You're almost there, you got this!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
