How can I jump start my weight loss again?

So I had my gastric bypass done for months ago and I have now lost 67 pounds since then. But now I seem to be at a standstill for the past 3 weeks and I'm not sure what is going on. How can I jump start my weight loss again? Should I go back to stage 1 and 2 of my liquid diet and see if that helps?

Are you tracking your calorie intake?
Are you tracking your carb intake?
Are you tracking your Protein intake?
Are you tracking your Water intake?

Are you exercising?
Do you know your Basal Metabolic Rate?

You can start over and do some liquid diets, then move to puree, etc, just recreate your pre and post op diets. You can surely do that. Might not be 100% necessary though. If you are tracking all the above and your water intake is high, your protein intake is good, your carb intake is low and your daily caloric intake is less than or equal to your current BMR, then you should be fine and might just be stalled out.

If you aren't tracking or aren't sure of any of the above, get on that before you revert to pre-op diet.

Question for you @Matt Z . Is the BMR that these scales give via app pretty close to accurate? For that matter is all the data given pretty close? Or close enough to go by?

You have lost 67lbs in a month. You are not going to lose weight every week, every month just because you had the bypass. Your body can not process the fast weight loss like you can. You don't need to do anything but stick to the diet your doctor gave you. What you were doing post op is not what your body requires now. That is the one thing people fail to realize its not gonna keep coming off without your body catching up. 3 weeks is not a stall. Not losing weight in a couple months is a stall. Be patient it will keep moving just give it time.

Pretty sure it's been four months not one. Not that it's not a great accomplishment. I do agree with all you said except....

What is the proper definition of a stall? Is it how the individual interprets it? Or is there a WLS proper definition? I once said I had stalled for a few days and I felt like I got my ass chewed off by another member saying a few days wasn't a stall, it's a week or more. Made me feel like an idiot for even posting my 2 scents.

So sorry! That's not cool. I'm not sure that there is a definition of a "stall".

To me it is anytime I am doing all the right things and the scale is going nowhere. I think I define "stall" as more of an emotional state than a physical one. I am probably wrong and will be corrected shortly. 😉

I wasn't calling you or anyone out. My apologies if it came across that way. I am just curious if there is a definition for us? Hell I call it a stall when I drop only ounces over one night (only to myself now of course).

I have to agree with sleeved36. It's when I'm doing everything right and no more than an ounce loss to gaining a couple lbs back. I am very disciplined on my diet and exercise so I already know the do's and don'ts, I was asking for advice about a true stall, not "I'm not losing bc I'm not doing what I'm suppose to" stall. And yes it was suppose to have written out four months since my gastric bypass sorry about that. Jsan I'm thinking I may have to cut back on my solids and up my Protein total for the day a lil more.

I've seen scales that do BMI, I haven't seen any that do BMR. (I haven't looked really either, so "grain of salt" here) but if the scale allows you to enter your height and age (either on the scale or a connected app), then it should be just as accurate as any other BMR Calculator.

To me... a Stall is any time that you are not losing weight when you should be, *NOT* a "I'm not losing weight because I'm not tracking anything and I don't know what I'm consuming etc". If you are doing EVERYTHING the way you are supposed to, and just not losing pounds... to me, that's a stall.

A plateau (again, to me) is any extended length of time where you don't lose weight, generally because you are close to your bodies desired weight/size and still doing everything you are supposed to be doing.

I've noticed you've avoided answering my post. The best tool for working through a stall, is tracking.
If your Water isn't near 128oz a day... that's can be a problem, because the human body needs water to process and remove fat. So, if we don't meet the daily needs and have extra around for the body to process fat... then fat loss suffers.

If your carbs are too high, Proteins too low, Caloric expenditure is too low or is over your BMR, those can all be problems.

Since no one here has any idea what your daily totals looks like, no one is going to be able to give you a proper answer as to how to potentially break your stall.

I answered by summing up that I am very disciplined meaning I track everything, even my macros, and I'm meeting all my requirements. I'll list everything out so you'll have it on hand:

My Water intake is 120 oz or more per day

My carbs stay under 35 everyday

My calorie intake is from 900 to 1000 per day

My fat intake is under 35 per day

My Protein intake is between 60 and 80

I salsa every Tues and Thurs and I do cardio 2 other days during the week.

I take all my assigned Vitamins and supplements as well.

What else details would you like to know?

I, again, am asking to hear what people have tried and worked not just what may work on me, so that way this post is helpful to others, as well.

Might be worth trying to up your caloric intake a bit, see if your body is stuck in conservation mode, this is why I was also asking if you were paying attention to your BMR. Are you paying attention to your fat% by chance? Lots of times I personally didn't lose any weight, actually have gained some, but still would lose body fat.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
