Ingrown hairs??

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this is gross/TMI/wrong forum.

I've been maintaining for the past year and I've been getting a LOT of ingrown hairs "down there", where before I didn't... my partner thinks it's from loose skin causing friction or something like that. Which I guess makes sense because my stomach skin hangs down around where it happens. Has anyone else dealt with this post weight loss? A few of them have repeatedly gotten infected/started bleeding and idk what to do about it. It's gross and it looks bad and it's painful. Can loose skin cause this? Is there anything I can do to prevent it (other than the standard prevention/treatment...)?

I highly recommend gently exfoliating/scrubbing the area especially after shaving. Also visit a dermatologist if you can to make sure it's not a recurring infection.

side note:

Laser hair removal, although expensive, works well even... if its just one or two treatments to just to stop the Ingrow hairs

Honestly and I know this goes against current trend of a smooth shaved area but try clippers vs shaving with a razor. Keeps it neat and clean without the bumps and irritations that can lead to infections and odors. I'm only post OP day 8 but this is what I recommend to patient's I've taken care of and they've been happy with results.

I've had a ton of laser hair removal. I'm doing my full legs now. It's awesome not to shave anymore. It's not cheap but neither are the razors, shaving cream, and time I used to put into it. Going once or twice helps but most areas need 6+ treatments.

I actually experiences when I gain weight. I would see a dermatologist. My dermatologist has given me a special soap that I can use in certain areas that are susceptible to ingrown hairs and abscesses

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
