The incredible world of thrift stores. Went from a size 46 waist to a 34. Shirt size from 3XL or 18.5 neck to 15.5 neck or L in dress shirts. Will not spend over $3-$5 per item. Having a blast finding great items that fit. Always felt guilty going to big and tall just to overpay for khaki expandable pants. Love getting my wife's attention each morning I walk out the door for work. Only regret, I did not get the sleeve sooner. Gained all my weight from 25-44. Almost made it to 300lbs. Ugh...Now back to 185. You can do this too!!!5b858b676d63c_ScreenShot2018-08-28at12_44_36PM.png.0f80b1c0787946abc5f7b126b2025b1c.png5b858be21a969_ScreenShot2018-08-28at12_51_22PM.png.63d13cdca92b32b3017e0154c8abb4f9.png5b858bee0a88b_ScreenShot2018-08-28at12_52_04PM.png.7536ff4d4f2fefdbaf07ec3f6534b0b3.png

Awesome transformation! And, thrift stores - that's a great idea, may I steal it? You have a wonderful looking family as well. I hope to be able to buy clothes from a regular size department instead of always the big & tall, although I will always need tall shirts.

The closer I get to my surgery (scheduled for September 6, 2018), the more I wish I did it years ago as well. I'm 52 and have been large my entire adult life, and have been over 300 pounds for at least the past 10 years (I actually cannot remember the last time I weighed less than 300 pounds, so it may be much longer...)

Keep it up! and thank you for the inspiration!

You look awesome!

I'm about to turn 30 and having my surgery right before my birthday. My mom's been steadily losing weight over the last few years and hoarded some of her larger clothes, so I'll be wearing mom-clothes for a while. Fortunately, she is quite a fashionable 52 year old. lol! I also saved some clothes from 10 years ago when I was 6 sizes smaller in the hopes that some day I could wear them again - welp, soon enough, bag of hoarded clothes! haha. And people told me to just get rid of them. PFFTTTTT.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
