MassMom 103 Posted August 27, 2018 I was wondering when people received their surgery time- 24, 48 or 72 hours in advance? I know my date but thought I was supposed to get the time yesterday. Maybe I’ll get the call today. Just the building anticipation and wanting to get everything in place before I go to the hospital.
J San 1,071 Posted August 27, 2018 I was told to be at the hospital "around" noon when I got confirmation at my surgeons office a week prior to date. Then I got a call from the hospital the day before surgery to be there at 8am. I was in the prep area right away and the nurses did all the testing, IV etc. I did did go up just after 12 for surgery. 1 MassMom reacted to this
MargoCL 677 Posted August 27, 2018 My surgery was on the 20th. I was initially told to be there at 530 a.m. for a 730 a.m. surgery. However the Friday before I got a call and was told to be there at 430 a.m. - It's a safe bet that they will call a day in advance if anything has changed. 1 MassMom reacted to this

Frustr8 7,886 Posted August 27, 2018 I got my date on July 17 at the conclusion,of my appointment with Dr Needleman at OSU Bariatric Clinic. Suzy the scheduling Secretary plan to arrive by 5 AM for a 7 AM surgery on September 5 2018. Said wanted me to be first that day, that way if my surgery became, more complicated he could devote total attention to me. Hey, I feel honored, first time I have been first for anything. When you get repeatedly a fuzzy lollipop while the rest,of the world. gets cotton candy, you resign yourself to 2nd rate treatment, and I never stuck up for myself. How could I when I was my parents daughter, my husband's wife, my children's mother, I had no independent life, just an extension of someone else. Sad isn't it, I was never me, raised that way, lived that way. When my husband died, and I had to become me, it was scary. See, I had been browbeaten that no one could like me for myself. Been a rough 6 years establishing ME, but guess what -people do like me, I can finally seek the surgery I have wanted , that my parents and husband wouldn't permit me to have. And now I am doing it, and now I can be first in line on my surgery because my future health and ME matter, and for a few minutes I am the Empress, the person extraordinate the world waits for. AND it is Heady and thrilling! 2 Suesloosinit and Mrsplace reacted to this
Russ D 115 Posted August 28, 2018 My doctor likes to have all of his day's scheduled patients there first thing in the morning. We weren't told what time our surgeries would be. That way if someone dropped he could just slide everyone up a slot and be out of there faster. Was a pain in the butt, but I understand why he does it that way. So, I was just told to be there at 7:30 AM. I was the fourth of seven surgeries he performed that day, I went on the table at about 2 PM.
