D.Grant 1 Posted August 26, 2018 I just joined this site today. I’m 49/male, 6’3”, and had lap band surgery in 2011...starting weight was 305 and I got down to 233 in probably 6 months. Over the years the band stopped working, just didn’t feel enough restriction. And I put all the weight back on over the course of four years (2014 to present). My biggest mistake was relying pretty much 100% on the science and not making enough behavioral changes (I made a few early on but it was not nearly enough). I’m scheduled for sleeve surgery on 10/9 and I’m excited to have it done. Of course my goal is to learn from my mistake and make the necessary behavioral and dietary changes this time. I want to get down to 210 which was my weight at one point in college. Any and all tips and advice are welcome and I’m proud to be here with all of you. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
Born in Missouri 1,264 Posted August 26, 2018 Did you decide on the sleeve or was it recommended to you?
D.Grant 1 Posted August 26, 2018 I met with my surgeon a few months ago for a lap band adjustment. We were talking about how the band just didn’t work anymore and he asked if I would be interested in the sleeve. After discussing it with him I began the process that day. J San 1,071 Posted August 26, 2018 Welcome to the forum. Congrats on making the choice to get the sleeve. I'm trying to talk my brother into doing the same as you. He had the band and it didn't work for long. Best of luck to you but I'm sure you'll do great.
