Well I have very smelly urine, slightly off color, I am getting close to my 64 oz of Water although I have been told this close to surgery only 48 is demanded. Figured I may still be getting anesthesia out of my system or the way my meds were rearranged NBD.
Now for #2 a lot of rectal gas, small amount of belching. I obviously didn't have gas left in me. When I got back to my room I was amazed at how flat it looked, Just 6 entry ports, okay all ready, I know they are trocar entry sites, I just think of them as entry, ports . My navel had a lot of dried blood flaked there, had nurse wash it for me Friday morning, they were peacefully healing along. And the Lovenox monster arrived , ugly, dude , looks just like Edward. Scissor hands except he had syringes for fingers. And it was HELLO ABDOMEN- I'm here to change your appearance and he did. My,poor little tumtum which had 6 slits and extensive stretch marks and was moderately happy since all it thought was those steri strips was as bad as it was going to get. Now I have a flood of purple sneaking across my belly from left to right. That is bad but now my stretch mark glow Emily rather like a badly painted Elvis on Black Velvet. Ooh shoot and, here I was planning to become an underwear model, time to reboot there! Only place my belly would in a place of honor? THE SMURF DAY NEWS, maybe they would make me their queen? Been practicing the 👋 wave ever since Harry and Megan got married. Thought maybe Harry has an uncle or cousin available, a tired slightly worn out Prince might just be my speed.
Now in the feces 💩department, yesterday while passing gas in the bathroom, one, lonesome , walnut sized object emerged . Surely some will follow? I,am on Miralax daily this should start something, right?
But a facet I hadn't explored, I cannot unwind. I am sleeping maybe 3-4 Hours each night, and that's not enough to,recharge my Life 🔋 Battery. I am tempted to take a Norco , not for pain but to see if the opioid will make me more 😪 sleepy. But otherwise I go bebopping along , the LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD HAS GOT A BRAND NEW STRAIGHT TRACK TO RUN ON! 4 days going on 5 and. I could rock the casbah, but I don't enjoy overseas travel that much! Maybe for the right reason and to visit countries and people I have only met in geography and history lessons.

They gave me heparin. The first nigh was the worst! I was up every 2 hours peeing because I was hooked to an IV bag. That part sucked because I was getting up and down constantly and my stomach was getting sore.

I didn’t smell when I got home from surgery at all... also I didn’t have to give myself blood thinning shots when I got home.

Sorry for what you’re experiencing. My doctor never talked about body odor but we were given a binder with information about after surgery changes, and body odor was mentioned. Am little over 6 weeks post op I didn’t have issues with usual smell and I only had to take injections while in hospital. Hopefully it doesn’t last too long.

I didnt smell any different after my surgery at all. I'm 9 months out now and still no smell. My gas doesnt smell any worse than it did before surgery. As for the blood thinners you have to inject.. not everyone is required to take them after surgery. I had to but only because I already have a history of blood clots. But I was never instructed to inject them into my legs. Mine were injected into my stomach twice a day 12hrs apart. I only had to take the injections for 30 days and then I could stop taking them.

The shots will depend on a couple of things. If you are on blood thinners before surgery ( yes you will stop taking them before surgery for x amount of days), what your pro-time ( blood test to check how fast your blood clots) , you other medical conditions , and if your doctor uses them as a normal thing after this surgery.

My doctors usually only give them in the hospital .

As for the smell I had no idea. The gas, and bm yes .

No strange smells or injections here. Very interesting all the variations of peoples' experiences you learn about here. You just don't know what your path will hold in store until you get there...

Like I can smell the Vitamins that I take and also the food that I consume.
Before the surgery I would sweat a lot as well because obvious reasons of being morbidly obese. But now it’s a different kind of smell that’s more stronger. I didn’t know this would be a side effect.
I know that when you pass gas it would be putrid as well , same as when you do the number 2. But the smell of the sweat is something else y’all. M

Injections against blood clots.
After your surgery you have to inject yourself with medicine against blood clots in order to avoid strokes etc because you don’t move around as much anymore.
But nobody told me how my legs would look like while using it.
My legs are looking beat up.

After you inject the medicine into your legs, you r not allowed to rub it, otherwise you’ll get bruises. But you can’t help your clothes from not rubbing against your skin so I got bruises all over and it looks horrible. So if you’re used to wearing shorts, just remember that .
I have to take each every day for a 1 month or so and my legs are just.... yeah.. it’s not pretty.

I’m 11 days post op and still going strong 💪🏻

Thank you guys for listening

Xoxo

I had no issues with changes in smell.
My injections were ALL in my stomach, we were told this well before surgery, bypass patients had to do 2 a day for 7 days.

Odd, I did not have smell, and only did shots in hospital. So sorry this happened to you.

What is this... The National Enquirer? Your title suggests that these are big, deal-breaking secrets that were hidden for some reason. Both are less than earth-shaking and have logical explanations behind them. I didn't have time to read the comments below your post, but I'm almost certain that others have addressed both concerns.

I didn't notice any putrid smells following my surgery.

I also didn't need to have any enoxaparin shots after my bypass, but I did have them after my full-knee replacements. The needle is so thin, you can barely feel it. I gave myself a week's worth of injections once home.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
