I am 1 week and 1 day post op Gastric Bypass. Today I started puréed food. Everyone talks about how fast they get full. I know I’m probably over thinking this BUT I had 1/2 of a Greek yogurt around 1:00 and around 6:00 I had a 1/2 cup of a creamy Soup. In between I also kept up with my Protein Shake. I’m comfortable but not over full at all like everyone made it sound that I would be. Can anyone give me a little idea what you are or were taking in around this time please :)

I was sleeved 7/31 and started pureed food about 1 week in. For me, the fullness feeling came more when I started adding more textured foods. Like you, I was comfortable with shakes and Soups.

You will not feel the real restriction until you start on more real foods, especially when you are finally able to move to dense Protein. Don’t worry, I thought the same thing. You’re fine.

I was worrying about this too, both during my three weeks of liquids and now that I’ve hit the puréed stage. I’ve felt a bit of that uncomfortable fullness a few times, but it passes very quickly for me.

While I am glad that with textured foods I’ll feel more of a restriction, I also think it is going to be important to recognize that vaguely satisfied/absence of actively feeling hunger as being “full”. It’ll be a challenge but I think being able to eat to just that point will be a huge success and a huge tool!

I didn't start feeling real restriction until soft foods, foods with residue. I would just keep to the recommended measured amounts and know that the time will come for that "full" feeling. For me, its sometimes annoying because it all depends on what I eat to how it will affect me.

Side note: Sometimes, I can eat a whole cup of something and others a few bites makes me miserable. Ultimately, you have to rethink food in general, even to this day, I get overwhelmed when I sit down to eat something really YUMMY and I can only get a bite or two in. I get disappointed, because I *want* to eat more, but I physically can't. I guess this is why the surgery works.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
