scrambled egg never tasted so good

Recommended Posts

Transitioning from liquid to puréed diet post surgery today. My first meal of choice: 1 large egg soft scrambled and chew the bejeezus out of it lol. I’m also trying some cooked baby Cereal - not a big fan haha. But that egg..... yum!

Whereas I cannot stand the taste of eggs, I can fully understand this sentiment! I was on puree's before I left the hospital, and for my first "meal" they gave me cream of wheat, which I hate. But I ate some and was so thankful for something that wasn't liquid!

My first meal was also a scrambled egg. I used the 20 second bite timer and went slow. I still felt nauseous after though and wound up throwing up a bit. I suggest only eating eating half wait an hour and eat the other half if you feel ok.

Egg for me as well. Done after 3 bites though, couldn't believe it filled me like it did. Was not happy after because I guess 2 bites would have been sufficient and I wound up having that stupid pain in my chest. Oh well, live and learn.

This post caught my eye since the only thing I am craving is eggs! I had 2-week liquid diet then sleeve surgery a week ago. I have another week to go till I can eat eggs. I think it’s really interesting that my body is asking for more Protein despite the fact that my diet is nothing but protein shakes! Surprised me.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
