@The Preacher please please never stop or cease. It was precisely when @Frustr8 pointed me to your thread hours before surgery that the peace that surpasses all understanding stayed my fretting heart to go through with it. Your prayers are relevant and VITAL and made a world of a difference for me, and will continue to make that difference for so manu! So from the bottom of my heart, Thank you 🙏🏼

God bless you for your encouraging words, I am truly thankful that God has allowed me the opportunity to meet people like you and others here.

Around 22 years ago when the Lord saved me, I purposed in my heart that I would serve Him no matter what the cost, even though we go through the storms of life sometimes it is still worth it all. After all He is the one who calms the storm, it's amazing how He can give us a piece that surpasses all understanding!

As long as the Lord allows me I will keep on keeping on, I'm truly thankful that the Lord watched over you and saw you through the surgery, just one more answered prayer!

God bless you!

Yes please. I have oral surgery today at 2:00 CST for 2 impacted wisdom teeth, one which is infected.

My VSG was originally scheduled 9/5, but had to be rescheduled because of the infection. I'm flying out of state and the Lord answered our prayers not to have to change our non-refundable plane tickets and with an equally fantastic surgeon at the same clinic. Sleeve surgery is now 9/13.

The oral surgeon said it will take 2 weeks to heal. We leave for Texas on 9/2, so only a week after oral surgery. I'll need a letter clearing me by the oral surgeon for anaesthesia & to be intubated before 9/13. Prayers that I heal quickly and that the surgeon feels comfortable writing the letter before I leave or I can find an oral surgeon in TX easily that will write me a letter after I've healed.

Thank you,

Christy

I have been praying about this, and really feel led to do it.

I have been criticized for sharing my faith in Jesus Christ on this website, I truly do respect others feelings because it certainly is their right to believe or not to believe, even God does not force one to believe in Him, it must be of one's own free will.

I feel deeply that there are some on here that would love to be prayed for, before surgery, during surgery and after surgery, so here's what I am willing to do, if I can be of some comfort to anyone, please email me at brotherron98@gmail.com

I assure you that I do have a personal and close relationship with the Lord, he does and always has answered my prayers, and I'm sure as long as I walk in his ways, he will continue to answer them, so please if I can help you in any way, email me.

Sincerely, The Preacher.

Please pray for me I have my gastric sleeve coming up August 30. Thank you

Plz pray for me. I have a god fearing mom who is continuously praying for me, I’m praying for myself but any additional prayers would be amazing. I’m nervous and anxiety is through the roof! 3 days remaining until i undergo my first surgery.

I'll certainly be praying for you, and by the way, you're having your surgery on my birthday, when you get out a recovery we can Celebrate together.

God bless you.

Amen! & Amen!

That's a wonderful testimony, thank you for sharing it with us. It made me think of a couple Scriptures, I'll share them with you because I believe they go along with your testimony.

Psalm 46:1 (KJV)
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 18:1-2 (KJV)
1 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

May God continue to bless and strengthen you.

Many claim to be atheists no doubt many are, no matter what they confessed to be they will stand before Almighty God someday in judgment, then they'll no longer be an atheist but it'll be too late then.

I'm glad (seriously!) you're all finding a supportive community here through a shared spiritual belief, but surely you understand that the phrase above is exactly the sort of prim brimstone-flinging that makes us atheists find proselytizing ... Tiresome. And somewhat hard to align with the idea that kicked off this thread, which is that you're the ones being persecuted.

Team Atheism will take care of our own hereafters, thanks. No need to write weirdly gleeful religious fan fiction about some sort of supernatural comeuppance, and we will courteously resist doing the empirical science-based version right back at you. Respectful observance of boundaries, etc. Right?

I totally agree with you. The attitude on here ever since Mr Preacher appeared has been nothing short of bigotry. I am a gay person and I am sure he thinks that his god hates me. He said that he is a Baptist. They are bigots, homophobes and racist. This web site is not here to have god rammed down our throats. Mr Preacher has people thinking that they must go through him in order to pray to their god. Nothing could be further from the truth. Dont fall for his con. If you do not know what BIGOTRY means look it up. There is no place on this website for bigots.

apositivelife4me No one here believes they HAVE to go through The Preacher in order to pray to God. He is NOT preaching all over THIS WEBSITE either. THIS thread was created specifically for those who do share the same belief in God. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE HERE SO WHY ARE YOU? I believe you are just looking for a reason to whine and create chaos. Take your anger and hate issues somewhere else. Get some help...

Disrespectful and Hurtful Posts are Forbidden

All posts must fit within BariatricPal’s guidelines for acceptable posts. Posts must be consistent with BariatricPal’s core beliefs.

  • Weight loss surgery can be an effective tool to fight obesity.
  • Our common goal is to fight obesity through a unified voice.
  • No weight loss surgery is inherently better or worse than any other. Each has advantages, and each has disadvantages.

Some individuals are good candidates for one kind of surgery, and other individuals are better candidates for another kind of surgery.

  • No individual is more or less deserving of weight loss and health because of a decision to get or not get weight loss surgery, or because of which type of weight loss surgery he or she chooses.
  • BariatricPal serves as a place where anyone can ask questions about weight loss surgery without fear of ridicule.
  • BariatricPal serves as a forum for open discussion and polite disagreement so that everyone can benefit.

Weight loss surgery “bashing” is absolutely prohibited. This include, but is not limited to, statements that a specific type of weight loss surgery is:

  • Bad or wrong
  • Easier than another type of weight loss surgery or “cheating” when someone is trying to lose weight
  • Out of date or obsolete
  • Doomed to failure

In addition, “bashing” of individuals is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, statements that a person is:

  • Lazy for choosing one type of weight loss surgery over another
  • Unprepared for or undeserving of weight loss surgery because of
  • Deserving of complications or disappointing weight loss because of their choice of weight loss surgery

  • Editing or removal of the offensive post(s)
  • Warning from BariatricPal staff or Forum Hosts to avoid such posts in the future
  • Temporary suspension of membership
  • Permanent removal of the member’s account

These guidelines do NOT forbid disagreement and candid discussions on BariatricPal. Members may discuss and defend their points of view in respectful manners. Please feel free to contact BariatricPal with any questions about these guidelines.

Remember that written communication is different from face-to-face communication. When you post a message on the discussion forum, send someone a text message, email, or private message, or meet in a chat room, a lot of the message is lost. When you are face-to-face with someone, you can use tone of voice, gestures, and expressions to help get your point across. These aids are lost when you communicate online. Your message can accidentally come across as harsh or rude. A good way to reduce accidental misunderstandings is to read your own message before posting it to see if there is any way that a reader could mistake its meaning in a negative way.

Additional BariatricPal Posting Guidelines

  1. Be polite. Rudeness is not tolerated and can lead to post removal or account suspension.
  2. All members have the right to express their opinions and are encouraged to do so while maintaining a courteous tone.

A rebuttal, if I may.

First, as near as I can tell, "everyone" wasn't calling names. One person was. That person, for whatever reason, didn't like the fact that this thread was here and entered the discussion to be disruptive, and succeeded in creating enough of a disruption to get it moved to what is effectively a dead board.

Second, what makes its current home the "appropriate forum"? The Lounge, per the description at the top of the board, is for any discussion "not specifically related to Weight Loss Surgery." Read through the requests and responses on this thread. The vast majority of people requesting prayers here are doing so out of concern for their or their families' weight loss surgery. Pre-op anxieties, post-op problems, anxieties about insurance (I think, to my recollection anyways)...how is that "discussion not specifically related to Weight Loss Surgery"?

I would posit to you that there have been many people on this thread that have received a sense of peace and comfort on having people know and reach out to them in their hour of fear and unease about the dramatic life shifts that WLS entails. Isn't that what the primary Weight Loss boards are all about? No, not everyone is going to find this thread helpful or even necessary. Does everyone on these boards find every bit of advice and information helpful or necessary? Doubtful.

We're adults. The vast majority of us can handle alternatively reading or ignoring threads that interest us or don't interest us. We can also handle dissent. If you must take some action, take it against those who are unable to abide by the rules; but don't kill a thread that is self-evidently helpful to at least a portion of your user base in conquering their fears about WLS, considering that in less than a week it has over 70 responses, the vast majority of which were positive and affirming.

Chiming in with my 2 cents. I can because I am in the USA where we have not abolished pennies. First I don't think Gastric Sleeve was the perfect forum, I am a peri- RNY person myself, I would have placed it in General Weight Loss but I do yield to Alex Brechlers wisdom as moderator and always will. The disruptive 2 people I shall seek, only to disagree with them. And I do move on away.from both.
I am one of the people this thread. has and will continue to help. As I have stated I am peri-surgical, at a point where I am trying to de-stress, have a happy attitude as. I approach surgery in my 70s, a late, I concede ,point in life. If this gives me a modicum,of peace I am grateful for it.
I have been on Bariatric Pal long enough to notice good posts seldom die, bad posts either are deleted or fall by the wayside.
Let this thread stand on its own merits, those who do agree, find solace, hope for their personal futures will find help here, those who do not have the right to not come here or click on this subject. There are forms of WlS I would not choose for ME but,i shall never degridate those who made that choice or deny them their own forum.
And the oldest( I think) current BP person has spoken her piece, okay?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
