Svdlux23 31 Posted August 17, 2018 Hi, I am thinking about the "last meals" I want to have before surgery. Any one else eat those things they think they won't be able to after? On my list are Thai Green curry, pancakes and bacon, a good steak dinner with baked potato, and some yummy cereals.. So far thats my list and growing. more about what I can handle now and know it will be many months until i can enjoy any of these things again.. and if i can the tiniest measures. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
J San 1,071 Posted August 18, 2018 I don't see any problem with you eating any of those things post surgery. But the worst of them is probably the cereals. You'll eventually be allowed to eat everything/anything you want. It's just up to you to make the right decisions at that point. I don't think any of the other things you listed are that bad depending on how they are made. I did drink my ass off 2 weeks before surgery and for some reason had a crazy craving for cheese cake about a month and a half pre surgery. After 3 cakes over 2 weeks that went away. 2 1 clsumrall, Frustr8 and FutureRN19 reacted to this

Lol!, For me the pre op diet was difficult only because Rainier cherries were in season and would be gone before I got to soft foods. I did get some Bing cherries last week. They were good and I did enjoy them but I sure did miss those rainier cherries. 1 1 clsumrall and Frustr8 reacted to this
Edsgirl 7 Posted August 19, 2018 My surgery is this Thursday Before I had to do my three week Protein, we went to Olive Garden, McDonald, Wendy’s and skyline. Now that I’m almost to the end of my three weeks I have no cravings for anything. I feel very blessed to be able to have this surgery. 3 Svdlux23, Frustr8 and clsumrall reacted to this
Russ D 115 Posted August 19, 2018 Breakfast croissant sandwich (sausage), burger, Mexican food. Mild drinking (nothing too heavy, saying goodbye to beer and whiskey). I'd already come to grips that I was giving up a lot of things that (I THOUGHT) brought me joy (but DIDN'T, they brought me damage to my body and self-loathing). I'll never hit a Chinese buffet again, eat a pizza, eat a whole hamburger, pound a beer with the boys, eat a big steak and baked potato. I'm fine with that. I'm focused on doing a whole lot of OTHER things that I've never been able to do very well before. Hiking. Roller coasters. Dancing. Swimming without making a spectacle of myself. Cycling. Walking down an airplane aisle without everyone studiously avoiding eye contact with me ("Please don't pick my middle seat, please don't pick my middle seat"). And maybe, if I can hit my goal, jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. I've had 33 years to abuse my body with junky food and bad choices. Time to do something more constructive with the rest of my life. 2 1 clsumrall, AASosa and Svdlux23 reacted to this

Littel_Urchin 24 Posted August 20, 2018 (edited) I had to wait quite some time to get my surgery date (close to 1 year from the initial appointment) and was able to do what I call my "Food Farewell Tour". I managed to eat a lot of things but they were all nicely spaced out so I didn't put on weight. I live in a city with access to many ethnic foods. I'm 5 days post-op now and waiting for the day I could eat Indian street Snacks again. And there's this Chinese breakfast item comprising sticky rice, boiled peanuts, and fried shallot that's high on my list, too. Probably not so soon, though. Frustr8 7,886 Posted August 20, 2018 Ummm that sounds so good, you get the, real things there, we just have pale imi6ations in the US, oh there are a few places in our larger cities that are good sources. but what is billed as Chinese food would get you laughed at in Hong,Kong, let alone Mainland China. Good hearing from you again Littel _Urchin, I have missed you and your postings.

Was on a self-imposed lockdown until after my surgery, now I'm back Ooh, on the flip side, I've always wanted to try American Chinese food, especially moo shu pork eaten straight out of the oyster pail. AMEN!!!!! its funny cause we all do the stupid farewell food trip and yet after surgery you can choose to eat whatever the hell you want. It’s just a MUCH smaller portion than before and you will loose weight coming from 5000 calories a day to 600-1200. Now when you start loosing weight and competing with your scale your going to ask yourself do I really want to eat that? How will it affect my numbers??? Some days your strict while others you enjoy some comfort foods. I still eat pizza 1 or 2 small 4inch square thin crust slices no problem, eat chicken wings sure no problem, (not at the same time) drink a soda sure no problem, have a beer no problem, eat desert no problem! BUT I fail at the scale that week and it makes you feel like sh!t plus your hair starts to fall out cause your eating JUNK. My point is start coaching your mind now, that the plate of food isn’t going to bring you happiness! But looking good in the mirror, fitting in a normal size chair, tying your shoes without loosing your breath.. small victories that really improve your life! F junk food it’s not worth it. good luck with your journey 1 Russ D reacted to this
