Drinking.

I was a huge social drinker. I’ve drank since WLS. I’ve enjoyed a nice glass of wine or port. But the appeal of sitting in the hotel bar and having drink after drink is gone.

The only hard thing about it is being the only sober one, and people commenting about it. I’ve been told I’m not the same sillykitty any more. I’ve been told that it’s no fun to be around me because I’ll remember all the drunken antics etc.. I miss fitting in only not the drinking

Same thing happened to me when I gave up drinking a 2-3 years ago when I started to get serious about weight loss, then I had to step up my personality to compensate for what people expected from the drinker me

It was exhausting

don't let them pressure you...

Oh yeah, I gave those friends up too lol

These are colleagues. So short of quitting my job, I’m stuck with them ;)

Does this mean I no longer have to lose "thirtty pounds" as Dr sNow would say? What a relief, I'm not close to his patients in size! And with my surgery I probably never will be!

I think it’s interesting how many of us watch My 600 pound life.

I watched my 600lbs life too! Obsessively. One year post op and I don't watch tv that much. I have basic cable now just to catch up on local new here and there. Otherwise I am walking during my spare time and letting our youngest daughter tell me what she wants to do with me.

My son, to irritate me, turns to Hoarders, I keep telling him once I have my surgery, really start to lose weight, I will unload all the clothes as I "under-grow" them. Some,of them are old friends that served me pretty well, the rest kept me warm in❄ Ohio❄ Winters.😛

I do miss carbonated drinks, I loved seltzer Water and lime or lemon, and I also liked enjoying a craft beer occasionally. I miss beer. So much. But not enough to indulge in it and risk feeling sick.

I used to Netflix binge a lot more than I do now, can't say I gave it up completely, lol, but now I make myself go for a run before sitting on my ass for a while, or I stop after a couple episodes of whatever I'm watching and do something.

I used to have a really involved hair care routine for my naturally curly hair that I’ve spent the last 2 years growing out to the longest it’s ever been. I don’t bother right now. I’m waiting to see how much of it I have left after the potential Hair loss phase. 😅

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
