Really scared

Because I dont feel restriction on with my band and I do have the 9.75 band that holds 4-5cc my doctors want me to do an upper GI this week. They said they believe I have stretched my pouch. The big problem is they also said that if I did they were going to completely unfill me for several weeks. I cant afford to get unfilled then start the whole fill process over again especially since they wont give you more than 0.4 at a time and its 200 bucks per fill. I am sure I have stretched something out because I can eat more than I should be able to. I wonder if in a weeks time until the upper GI if I can start to shrink my pouch on my own and maybe I wont have to get an unfill. I dont know if its possible to shrink anything in this amount of time or not. Whats even worse is what if I am one of those people who have slipped and dont have symptoms with it. I dont know I would do I cant afford to repair something like that. My insurance doesnt cover anything else with the band.

How is everything going? Did you have your upper GI? What was the outcome? Hope your doing okay.

Gummiebear, I would try and cut your portions to maybe a 1/2cup and 800-1k calories a day. How much are you able to eat? Sometimes the pouch can get back to normal by itself. YOu also may want to go on liquids for a few days to see how you do. Good luck. I know you have done really well with the band.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
