lilu543 2 Posted August 15, 2018 I had gastric bypass surgery on 8/10 and am the maid of honor in a wedding in mid October. How many dress sizes would you say to go down so my dress isn’t crazy large?! I’ve lost 13 pounds is less than a week too. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

I’ve lost 45 pounds in 3 months, and have gone from 18/20w to 14/16 in “regular” sizes. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

Because literally every single person reacts differently to WLS. I've dropped 75 lbs since March 2nd. I ordered some compression gear from China, and by the time I got it, less than a month later, it was too big. 2 1 baribetty, Frustr8 and Orchids&Dragons reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted August 15, 2018 I honestly, wouldn' t go down more than one sixe. The larger you are the more you have to,go down to change sizes,, it's not fair but that's the rules. of ladies clothes. But as we get smaller the sizes change quicker, there might only be 5 pounds between,a 10 and 12. 1 AndreaK. reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,430 Posted August 15, 2018 That's hard to predict can you have the store order/bring in a procession of sizes down in the same dress so that you can estimate? Bridesmaids dresses are not usually super custom so it shouldn't cost a fortune if requested ahead of time... 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
lilu543 2 Posted August 15, 2018 Ok thank you that is super helpful! I just tried on an 18 that is a tad too small so I’m thinking a 16 might be the way to go 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
AEdoesRnY 531 Posted August 16, 2018 (edited) Remember it's super easy and fast for a tailor to (cheaply) take in a dress that's too big, a lot harder for them to give you more room if it's too small. I bought a bridesmaids dress for a wedding I was in and ended up losing a bunch of weight between ordering and the actual wedding. I think it took $35 and two days for a tailor to pin it where I wanted it to fit and for me to get it back! Frustr8 7,886 Posted August 16, 2018 Go with the 18 for the reason AEL said above, would have said the same but she beat me to it. If the tailor has to cut it down a lot and I hope so, you might have enough left for a coin purse or clutch!
lilu543 2 Posted August 16, 2018 Thanks for the insight guys. I unfortunately already ordered the 16 so I’m just going to really hope for the best 😐
baribetty 165 Posted August 16, 2018 Let us know how it goes!
AEdoesRnY 531 Posted August 16, 2018 If it’s already ordered it’ll come in plenty of time for you to let them know if you need an exchange if it’s too small. When it arrives check with the vendor to see how long an exchange would take, if they say, for example, two weeks, then I’d try on the dress 3-4 weeks before the wedding and if it’s still too small then go ahead with the exchange!
