Lost over 60lbs but still the same dress size

Recommended Posts

Same thing happened with me I lost a ton and sizes weren't budging at my higher weights. Now a much smaller even five pounds changes my sizes. Once I hit size six or eight on the way down things started moving much faster size wise. You're doing great hang in there.

Above 16 I found sizing really Fluid - stretchy fabrics, plus-size cuts, vanity sizing all likely played a part. I could still wear things across a huge range of weights, though they hung differently.

Below 12 is totally different. Now both fit and overall look change FAST. It’s Instantly obvious what fits and what doesn’t. The cut is much less forgiving, for one thing. It’s a good (though pricey) problem to have.

It’s pretty common. There’s a huge gap between larger sizes. I had to lose about 50 pounds to drop a size when I started and now only about 10 pounds.

Also, a lot of us are wearing clothes that are stretchy, or maybe even a little tight at the beginning of our journeys. So we have to drop huge amounts to get to the next size.

Dont worry, it will happen!

Thanks for your post. However, mine is the opposite. I’m loosing a lot of inches and my sizes are dropping, but my pounds aren’t. I’m 4 1/2 months post. Suggestions please.

Are you perhaps exercising and building muscle?

I used to exercise a lot prior to surgery, but, I’ve only did a little since surgery.

I’m 12 weeks and 55 lbs down. I’ve gone down 1 size but can still wear the same clothes because it was all a little tight. The only new clothes I’ve gotten since surgery have been new work shirts and those are a uniform piece provided by work. So I didn’t buy it

yep last time I lost a lot of weight I really didn't change sizes until I got to about the 70 mark... its sounds nuts but its true.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
