Stephani B 0 Posted August 13, 2018 Can I get back on Prozac/fluoxetine capsules? I got off it after surgery 3 years ago but am feeling the need to get back on it. Wondering if the capsules are time released and might not be recommended. If not, do I need to request a pill if it is available? 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
James Marusek 5,244 Posted August 13, 2018 You might discuss that with your surgeon's office. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
Krista27 341 Posted August 13, 2018 I have been taking them the whole time and they had me take my next dose the day after surgery. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
bookworm1983 28 Posted September 3, 2018 I also stayed on Prozac through surgery. My team said that i needed to be off the time-release medication for the first month and then I could go back on. Obviously, check with your team but if you feel the need to go back on your meds, talk to someone and do it You need to take care of your mental health as well as your physical health. If you neglect your mental health, it can effect your physical recovery. Best of luck! 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted March 12, 2019 I saw my psychiatrist today and my Prozac isn't time-released, so it's okay. She said that because of my sleeve surgery I can't do time-released medication because nothing stays in the stomach long enough to release
