Aaron036 3 Posted August 12, 2018 I’m 4 weeks post-op and sweets and chocolate which were my goto in the past just are not appealing any more. I don’t crave them and I can only take 1 bite of sugar free puddings or any thing like that. I know that your taste can change after surgery, anyone else feel this way. It’s actually a good thing for me, I hope it stays this way I’ve had a really bad relation ship with these foods in the past. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
Greensleevie 451 Posted August 12, 2018 This is one of the wonderful temporary effects of the surgery that allow us to lose weight. Keeping it 💯, it won't last. Take advantage of this magical time to cement good habits in order to lose all your excess weight and more importantly, keep it off. Protip: The longer you stay away from sugar and the less you eat of it, the less you will crave it. 2 Frustr8 and FancyChristine15 reacted to this

jjacobs0816 23 Posted August 13, 2018 same here. I think it comes from all the Protein Shakes you drink during your liquid phases. You couldn't pay me to drink a milky sweet Protein Drink right now. I am only three weeks out. Having to find alternate ways of getting my Protein in. 1 1 JaiRap and Frustr8 reacted to this
LaLaDee 519 Posted August 15, 2018 Lol. I never went through this. At my three month check in, I had to admit to my nutritionist that I was eating dark chocolate every day. 1 1 Frustr8 and CrankyMagpie reacted to this
Foxbins 625 Posted August 15, 2018 It's true I lost my sweet tooth for a while and I have always been a dessert lover. Now cake, doughnuts, bread, all those sorts of things feel icky, like they're all balled up inside, so I rarely eat them. Crunchy sweets, like crisp Cookies, and toast go down much better. For some reason, I have completely lost interest in ice cream, but chocolate candy, no problem. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted August 15, 2018 Sounds like your taste buds really have altered, wonder if it will be permanent,or just a passiing thing?
MdmMargott 20 Posted August 16, 2018 I'm almost four months post-op and still didn't have not one bite of chocolate, ice cream or any sugary food and they certainly were my go to food in the past. I don't have major cravings, more like some nostalgic feelings sometimes, but I just know how addictive these things are and how much damage they've already made and I refuse to give in. I was just really mentally prepared to let sugar go from my life and my new sleeve made physical process go smoother, but the major shift happened in my mind. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
LaLaDee 519 Posted August 16, 2018 I was told my taste buds might change. It didn’t happen. I was also worried because some people can’t tolerate spicy food afterwards. I like exactly the same foods I ate before. I just have to stop myself from eating most of them. I can’t stop the chocolate though. My family cannot believe I’ve lost 150 pounds /70kg + and eaten dark chocolate every single day. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
Neversaynever 268 Posted August 16, 2018 I made a vow to myself to not eat any of the following as they were my downfall in the past and I haven't yet... chocolate Biscuits Cakes/ pastrys Pies/sausage rolls etc Its not hard to do either as like others, my taste buds have totally changed. The only regret I have is that tea doesn't taste the same which is a shame as I loved a good cuppa. 2 Frustr8 and MdmMargott reacted to this
