I feel the same mc2017!

My surgery was changed from August 27th to September 5th because of the OR getting some changes. I will be having mine with Dr. Taylor at Barix Clinics of Michigan in Ypsilanti. This has been a long process that started in January 2018 because I had stage 4 osteoarthritis in my right hip. I have since had a total hip replacement but my left hip has stage 2 osteoarthritis. At 48, I am too young to feel this damn old. My orthopedic surgeon assures me that losing the extra weight will get me back to my dancing days with the Hubby. Thankfully, Hubby understands that I am doing this to get back to my old self and to be able to keep up with him.

Congratulations on your future RnY, I am happy to find a bypass surgery twin , the other 3 I know of are all sleeve candidates. I will have mine at Ohio State University with Dr Bradley J Needleman. I have been work8ng towards mine since August 2015, long twisted story, but it will be finally finished and then I can move forward into my future life with an effective helper. I have been so sick and tired of being sick and and tired. I fear surgery much less than continuing as I am.

Well that's very cool, I'm pretty certain somebody has started an October forum, but hang with us anyway, we love all our bypass buddies!

Hi everyone. So glad people answered!! It is great to have support and go through it together at the same stages. I am in Australia so my hospital and surgeon won't mean anything! I had a sleeve done jan 2015. Not really a problem till july 2017 when i started to get nausea and reflux. I ate more fatty foods and junk so started to gain weight. When i went to the surgeon last month and had a ct and gastroscopy...it showed i have gastritis and a kink in my sleeve. So on 19th sept (aussie time) i am having surgery to remove the kink and convert to bypass. Am currently eating some foods i like that i won't be able to eat afterwards and on 5th sept start my 2 week pre op diet. Feeling impatient but nervous at the same rime

@ Miss Poodle, the same day you start your presurgery preparation I shall be having my RnY surgery. Any prayers and Good Wishes directed at me on that day I shall be grateful for. This is a brave new world we will be entering, but one I have been yearning for.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
