Medowsweet 52 Posted August 10, 2018 Anyone here been "morbidly obese" since childhood and never been a normal weight in their life? 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
KimTriesRNY 1,853 Posted August 10, 2018 I would not say I was morbidly obese in childhood but definitely was overweight becoming obese as a teenager and progressing to morbidly obese as an adult. I was at a normal weight for a few months in my very early twenties but was unable to maintain that and it was very fleeting. My weight has been a struggle my entire life. 2 Frustr8 and Kaylee.char reacted to this
boringtessa 39 Posted August 10, 2018 Meeeee! I have never been a normal weight since childhood, so the surgery will be giving me a brand new experience! I can't even imagine what it must be like to NOT be the fattest person in the room, nor what it's like to walk around without the weight of two full-grown humans putting stress on my hips, lower back, legs, and feet. I'm looking forward to the new normal-weight me, I can't wait! 4 Wanda247, Frustr8, Medowsweet and 1 other reacted to this

I'm looking forward to the new normal-weight me, I can't wait! Dispite my weight I am fairly active... But it's finally catching up to me (knees, etc).. Also, like you, I can't even imagine what it would be like to not be the fattest person in the room, to have my weight not be the first and only thing people see about me, to shop in the morning normal section of the clothes store, to not check the weight limit before I buy a yoga ball or chair, to not be afraid of breaking the swing set or the trampoline... To not have to treat things gingerly as I am pretty sure I will break them. As an adult my lowest lowest with weight watchers was 269, next time I lost a lot got down to 275... But my body doesn't seem to want me to weigh less then my highschool weight and won't let me get below 270's... 3 Frustr8, Wanda247 and boringtessa reacted to this
jacon 14 Posted August 13, 2018 I was a normal weight until I was about 8, then I started getting overweight. I was morbidly obese by the time I started my Freshman year of High School. I too can't wait to fit into Large and Mediums, and reach Onederland hopefully. Good luck to all of you!
brightfaith 187 Posted August 13, 2018 I have been big since I was a toddler and almost always the biggest in any room. Being fat is as much a part of my identity as being a woman, and sometimes more so. I cannot imagine not thinking of myself in this way regardless of the results of this process for me. I haven't seen data on results of the surgery based on "age of onset," but that would certainly be interesting to know. 1 jacon reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted August 13, 2018 I noticed you're having surgery August 20th. Did you settle for the VSG or are you still planning a Duodenal Switch.? I pulled up your past postings and saw that was what you had originally planned.
jacon 14 Posted August 13, 2018 (edited) I originally planned for the duodenal switch, but finally decided on the sleeve. Edited August 13, 2018 by jacon

jacon 14 Posted August 13, 2018 Thank you! I'm kinda nervous that I'll have complications, but I'm pretty sure everyone gets like that before a surgery...

FancyChristine15 810 Posted August 14, 2018 Yep! I've been morbidly obese ever since I was about 5 or 6. The lowest weight I've been as an adult is about 265, which is also how much I weighed when I was 15. I can't wait to be that weight again, and then go lower! 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted August 14, 2018 And I believe you can and will do it, may take a while but it will be of so much benefit to YOU!
