Heather_A 45 Posted August 10, 2018 Hello all, I’m 6 days post op and according to my doctor/dietitian, no straws until 6 weeks out. That is just not working for me. I’m used to my water bottle with a built in straw and I’m not drinking enough because I’m not allowed to use the straw. I’m thinking about ignoring this rule....thoughts/opinions?? 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

I’m used to my Water bottle with a built in straw and I’m not drinking enough because I’m not allowed to use the straw. I’m thinking about ignoring this rule....thoughts/opinions??I was told no straws ever. I didn't listen. I've been using them the whole time. I just make sure to not swallow the air I suck up in the straw and to take small sips. I'm all for following Dr's orders but none of them seem to agree on the straw issue. I did what works best for me and helps me get my fluids in. Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted August 10, 2018 I used a straw, no issues. Just sip slowly and try not to gulp air with it. Try sf popsicles for fluids. 3 Heather_A, sillykitty and Frustr8 reacted to this

Kcoley 17 Posted August 11, 2018 I was told no straws either BUT I do cause I get way more liquids in and I've had no trouble (6 days post op also)
Heather_A 45 Posted August 13, 2018 So I decided to go ahead and use a straw....and it didn’t effect me at all! I really can’t say that it cause any extra air or discomfort. Thanks for everyone’s input!
