@KimTriesRNY. Have you ever gotten lost? I think the topic triggered something in me. I don't usually veer off course like this. I knew kingcake was referring to acute pain, but it was too late. Triggers happen. Sorry if I hijacked your thread, kingcake, with my nonsensical ramblings. I was no help to you at all. I'd delete my post if I could.

Perhaps I should take a break from this forum and regroup. I've really been feeling down lately.

Somehow the question took a left turn. I realize that people have different tolerance levels for surgery. I’m an rn x 30 years. I just wanted to get somewhat of an idea. After I had gotten the sleeve I felt like I was hit by a truck and that feeling lasted for 24 hours. After that it got better rapidly. I was trying to get a feeling if the bypass recovery is similar.

@ Kingcake, if you can wait less than a month, on September 5th i, the about oldest Bariatric Pal active on BP, will tell you in my verbose way my RnY😷 surgery experiences. I do have a way with words (fuf,i do say so) even though my dexerity at texting is maybe C×, my,problem is my fingers go at a sedate 45 mph, my brain is out at the Bonneville salt Flats setting a land speed record. But cross,my heart and, the, promise to have to drink,Protein shakes into infinity, I WILL Tell All. Okay my friend?

Of course I have, I think we all have. I think it’s a normal part of this process. We are all going through a lot of changes and have a lot of emotions to deal with. Add into the mix all the hormones going crazy with the weight loss and it can be hard to predict what mood you will be in from moment to moment sometimes.

My post wasn’t meant to be harsh, although I am a person that tends to be rather blunt.

If you need to rant and rave, join us over in rants and raves.

We all need somewhere to vent when we get down.

I truly hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
