ajallen 27 Posted August 10, 2018 Hi I was obese off and on since early childhood, I had a gastric bypass on November the 21st 2017 My starting weight was 338 lbs and my weight today is 195 lbs. My hunger disappeared after surgery and I don't think about food like I use to. I lost the weight without any exercise because I have two bad hips, I now have two hip replacements and I am looking forward to being able to do the things I couldn't. I choose a bypass over a sleeve because I didn't think a sleeve would work for me. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted August 10, 2018 And I salute you for your accomplishments. I was a Fat Baby too, 35 inches tall weighing 36 pounds at a year, the size of a 2 1/2 year old. But I will be having, at a young age of 72, a gastric bypass September 5th,at Ohio State University-Wexner Medical Center in Columbus Ohio with my surgeon Dr Needleman presiding, probably have a roomful of peopke, it is a teaching hosputal, he is a full Professor in the Medical College, makes me no never mind, They, can invite the Ohio National Guard in, I just want my surgery, I chose bypass for several reasons, like you a sleeve would not work for me. Not one whit nervous, for I drowned my fears in my tears long ago. Now I just want to get on with life, continue losing, weight and as this day she'll cracks and then, disappears the REAL Frustr8 will shine through. And the world will know what I have known all along, I am a wonderful person to know and be friends with!😛
KimTriesRNY 1,853 Posted August 10, 2018 I have also been obese since childhood. I remember being on and off diets since the age of ten or eleven. I do get hungry but not in the same way as before surgery. I am not constantly thinking about what things I am going to eat and my cravings for most foods are gone. I do still occasionally crave things but the compulsion to give in and buy them is much less and easy to resist at this point. I felt bypass was right for me as I have been obese my whole life that I can remember. 2 ExpatTR and Frustr8 reacted to this
