tmrtyty2018 105 Posted August 8, 2018 Hi All, I'm new to this support site and wanted to start a new thread for those of us still a few weeks out from surgery. What's everyone doing to prepare mentally, physically, emotionally? My tentative date for surgery, assuming Cigna approves, is Oct. 2. It feels like it's so far away but I'm still trying to prepare now. How long does everyone plan to take off work? Have you told anyone besides spouse/significant other? Only my husband knows because the rest of my family is too judgmental and I'm doing it for me not them. I would love to hear your thoughts!
kathy060464 43 Posted August 8, 2018 I don't have a date yet but the surgeon has said late October or November. I'm trying to continue eating healthy and walking every day. I have one more nutritional visit and my final appt with pulmonologist after using the cpap for two months. I'm also researching where to purchase my supplements. I plan on taking two weeks off after surgery.Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app 1 1 Frustr8 and tmrtyty2018 reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted August 8, 2018 Well congratulations on getting closer at least to your surgery. Spend this last couple months lurking around here, soaking ,, up,knowledge. You'll get advice on what to,pack for your hospital stay, what diets are easiest, what Protein Shake tastes the bedt, and there are a lot of different brands, what brand and type of Vitamins are cheapest, what the best, one subject everyone has a different opinon on! You'll heard of entire families supporting you, nobody supporting you, boyfriends that break up with you. etc. You'll find people, that are barely,18 and then you find out about,me, 72,years old, refusing to die obese and planning my surgery in less than a month , on September 5th. You will hear from people in the US, Canada , the Caribbean, the UK,Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and indeed world-wide. You will meet people who have many family members who have, had surgery, others, like me , who no one in their family, who has.You will find people who are at peace with their decisions, others still scared to death. And you will absorb all this information, take what you can from each poster and make a plan for yourself. And it will all be good. And any questions, you still have, just ask, we love,to help each other here! And Good Wishes for you and your future days.😛 2 1 Marisol Unda, Mspring992018 and tmrtyty2018 reacted to this

tmrtyty2018 105 Posted August 9, 2018 Yes. I’m already obsessed with this website. Great information and true stories. It looks like a lot of people have had success. I’m ready for this to happen and get on the right track. I’ve procrastinated for a while. I should’ve done this last year but I was too scared. Now I’m ready! Thanks for the encouraging worlds! tmrtyty2018 105 Posted August 10, 2018 I read in another forum that someone started taking Biotin pre-surgery to prevent Hair loss after. I just ordered some and plan to start taking now. I really don’t want to lose my hair. Especially because I have long pretty dreadlocks that it took me years to grow. I’m going to research other supplements too post-surgery. Want to be prepared. I’m trying out shakes now to see which ones I can tolerate with my lactose issues. So far I can tolerate the high Protein low sugar Boost shake.
