PLEASE don't hate me. I am not bragging. I have a very legitimate concern. I am 2 yrs out from RYGB and have lost 98 lbs. (Can't figure out how to update my stats.) My BMI is a very healthy 21. No, I am not emaciated.

However, I started losing again, about 1.5 lbs/week. I have NO appetite and have to force myself to eat. I keep track of my nutrition on My Fitness Pal, and I typically get between 650-800 calories a day. I know I can't continue like this. I can't stand Protein shakes/bars. I even tried eating Dorito's, my old favorite, pre-surgery, and wondered why in the hell I ever liked those nasty chips. My surgeon says I'll gain wt back soon "once everything settles down" after my gallbladder surgery (in late May). This problem began in Feb after my weight loss had been steady at 70 lbs for 15 months.

My husband is worried about my health. I am worried that I might require a reversal if this continues.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Congratulations on your weight loss, but at the same time, I'm sorry to hear it might be too much. I don't have experience in this realm, I just got my RNY a month ago, so these suggestions might be silly.

As far as Protein, I'm really liking the Premier Protein clear drink. I don't care too much for the "regular" ones after the RNY surgery. Other than that, are you sensitive to fat intake? Perhaps integrate more healthy fats like fatty fish, avocado and transfat-free butter alternatives? I've read that sometimes fatty foods cause dumping, but I am not far enough out yet to experience this (Or hopefully not to).

If you did need to go for revision surgery, perhaps the doctor could bypass less of your intestines, so you could absorb more food? I'm not sure if that is even possible, but just a suggestion.

I am sure this seems fatalistic, but probably is not. Your body is recovering from surgery and needs to heal, you don't say what you are eating daily - just the calorie count. Eat a few more carbs, a potato, some winter squash, some heavier Soups like chowder, the liquids will go down easy enough, sprinkle a little cheese on some eggs, cream cheese stirred into soups, etc. Good luck.

Maybe try upping your calories not food? Add in avocado, cheeses, eat nuts for Snacks? Try to get closer to 1200-1500?? Have you met with your nutritionist to talk it through? I’d think they know how to correctly maintain or up your weight

How to update your stats.

1. Go to PATIENTS bar on top of this page.

2. Select MY SURGERY

3. Select PROGRESS (with a squiggly arrow) on left side of page.

4. Now change your current weight!

P.S. Did anyone else look to see if this woman was from Alaska? If that doesn't flip a switch, then you aren't familiar with a certain contentious thread from yesterday.

I don't know how to address your continued weight loss, so I'll leave that to others. The one thing that stood out for me, though, is that your surgeon seemed okay with it... for now. It sounds hormonal, though. Do you see an endocrinologist for anything? Has your surgeon ordered any labs recently?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
