Anyone experience Post-op cycle changes

Recommended Posts

So my cycles are pretty heavy which causes an Iron-deficiency for me. So I’m already going to be on my cycle when I go in for surgery. “SUCKS *SS” I was told by my surgeon that I may get my cycle again. Which means twice in one month. Oh HELL NO! Was anyone else told this?? Or if you had surgery did this happen to you. I would like to know how common it is. 😭☹️😤

This happened to me, sort of. Because of my birth control, I normally skip/don’t have a period. After surgery I got an untimely period.

And I'm sure out you're on blood-thinning,shots it has to be much worse. Eventually everything should smooth out.

Thank you @greensmoothie. I’m just hoping if it comes twice they aren’t both heavy. It makes me so weak

I was also on my period during surgery. Wasn’t bad because the pain meds help lol.

My periods have gotten worse in terms of heavier flow and more weird pain. My pain now is more back pain versus low abdomen pain. I hope it adjusts and gets back to the old routine but I am seeing my gyno next week to switch birth control because the pill may not be fully absorbed. I want to stay on it but I will see what the doc says.

Heavier!!😲 I pray that won’t be the case for me. Lord I can’t handle them being any heavier. Thank you @Bryn910 hopefully you have good luck with getting it back to normal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
