ESG 4 weeks post-op and weight stall

Recommended Posts

Hello :) I've been following this message board for a while now, but never gathered the courage to participate

I'm now a month post-op and I hate to admit that I started eating real food (well, almost) half way through my soft/pureed food phase. I got some minor pains, but was very manageable. I thought if i puree it in my mouth, then it'd be ok lol but obviously it wasn't.

So, anyway... my weight has stopped going down at half of week 3... nothing. Is it because I haven't followed the rules? I'm feeling pretty down... and i'm so ashamed to go to my doctor and let him know that I haven't followed the diet I should've been following.

Anyone had a case similar to mine? how did you get past this?

Thank you so much in advance, any comments are welcome :)

Hi there, unfortunately the ESG subforum isn't all that active at the moment.

You may get a response if you leverage off one of the other existing threads, and quote some of the more experienced ESGers. If their settings allow they will receive an email with your post, and they may return to reply.

Failing that, there is a Facebook page (ESG USA page) that is a bit more active than here, if you are concerned about privacy with your fb, you could create new profile with an alias, that's want I did.

Hello Yara. I am having my ESG on Aug 24th. Although I don't have a shared experience with you I just want to let you know that everything I have read says the 3-4 week stall is real and can be a real mind bender. Please don't beat yourself up for a few minor slip ups. We're all human and your journey has just begun. A stall is called a stall because it's temporary. You got this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
