Made this recipe today.

Changed it up bit. Used sweet potato instead of squash and a bit different on the spices. Added a full scoop of Isopure flavorless Protein Powder and they came out great.

Those look good!

Agreed, they do look like a lot of prep and cook time. But maybe worth it.

Prep and cooking did take a long time. I had to bake the final product longer than suggested, for some reason they were a bit more wet than I had imagined. I may try them again and add more Protein Powder.

I read some of the comments at the bottom. Someone else had that problem, too. The recipe creator suggested that they cut the squash (or sweet potato in your case) smaller before roasting, in order to dry it out more.

That makes sense. Although I cut the potato down to 1/2 inch squares baking them seemed to harden the exterior and make a sort of a capsule around them. As I added the ingredients and mashed it all together it got pretty wet. Maybe if I make them again adding more Protein powder will absorb the liquid/moistness.

There’s this girl on instagram who does all the time. Autumnnoir she uses unico Protein powders and makes all kinds of bariatric friendly Desserts like frosting, Cookies, whoopie pies. Many of the recipes are also on pinterest. They look super yummy, im just more of a chef personally, not a baker which is why i haven’t actually made them myself yet.

Just looked her IG up. Never been into sweets or deserts but cool that she's doing her thing. I know there must be tons of WLSr's that appreciate her posts. Did see some savory meals I'll be checking out. Gotta say though her before and afters are amazing. Thanks for sharing her IG.

Have you checked out the Skinnytaste website? It's not bariatric-specific, but the foods are healthy and the recipes I've tried have been great! These are all foods the whole family can eat.

Checked out SkinnyTaste. Some great recipes, I think I have some saved from there but never looked at any others they offered.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
