I was wondering how many of you actually watch the total caloric intake while trying to hit your 60 of Protein a day? Id like to see where everyone is at. I think I might not be eating enough at the moment but im in stage I. What is your total calorie intake per day?

I was sleeved 7/12, started tracking agin 7/14 my 2nd day home. Here is my 1st week of calorie intake. 7/14-205, 7/15-200, 7/16-285, 7/17-341, 7/18-351, 7/19-392 . I hit week 3 this past Thursday and I've just been getting in 500 calories the last 4 days. I'm having a hard time hitting my numbers (protein and water) because I get super full very quickly with soft foods.

Ah ok so im not too low then. Ive been trying to get a round about average in comparison to what others are hitting at the moment. I find it really hard to actually get in caloric intake compared to Protein. Protein I can hit the mark in like what 2 Premier Proteins = 60g Protein.

I do just about hit my mark most days with Protein, I have to get in 80g, but it's a LOOOONG day. From 6-7 am to 1-2am. I usually have 2 shakes a day with the 2nd shake being my last meal just to get me close to 80. The liquid stage was easier. I had 1/8cup of refried Beans with 1/2oz of chick today for 51 calories and a whopping 6g of protein. Meals with mushy foods is the only reason I'm up in calories.

I'm learning to stop when I get that feeling in my chest that is letting me know I've filled the tank. The last week or so i would feel it and always take one more bite, then be uncomfortable for the next hour. It's a big learning curve, especially stage 3 mushy and stage 4 solids but It's what I signed up for and I'm still excited about it all. I'm not low in energy as some have stated. Even with the low caloric intake I actually feel like I have a lot more compared to pre op. Maybe from all the protein?

That feeling you get in your chest isnt it like something stuck in your esophagus? Thats what Ive been feeling and man is it uncomfortable. I did that when I was enjoying my cottage cheese a little too much.

Yes exactly that.

I'm on the very low end of the calorie scales, especially for being at 5.5 months post op. I am usually at 400-500 calories per day.

Or maybe because you're hauling around 62 lbs. less of you? That's like giving an 8-yr-old a piggy-back ride all day long!

When I was on full liquids, the doctor wanted me to get 500-800 calories a day with 80-100 grams of Protein. Then when I progressed to soft foods it was 600-800 calories with 60-80 grams of protein (okay to go over protein but not under). At three months I am eating around 800 calories a day and at least 60 grams protein. I have steadily lost 12-13 pounds a month since surgery.

Honestly protein before calories, so as long as you are getting the protein in, eventually the calories will climb a little. Make sure you are getting the Vitamins and minerals, and protein, and then all the Water you should. Until you get close to maintenance weight, you are unlikely to go too low on calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
