Craving pizza

Recommended Posts

I think that kind of cheese would come right back up at that stage (I'm assuming you are on purees) If you are allowed to have ricotta cheese I have seen a recipe for a ricotta bake where you mix ricotta with Tomato sauce, maybe that would kill the craving?

Yes, ask your surgeon's team to see how that would fit in at this point. Picking the toppings off of pizza and leaving the crust behind is a classic WLS solution, progression dependent. Soft cheeses like mozzarella were fine the first week in our program (individual tolerance depending...) but not sure how that fits with your program, or how the baked on cheese fits, compared to the raw cheese.

@RickM your answer just rocked my world. I might not be so sad when I see pizza commercials. it’s definitely too soon for me, but what a great idea in a few months.

Cauli-Power pizza is pretty damn good and since the "crust" is vegetables, it's ok to eat! They are expensive considering, but... when you want pizza and can't eat pizza... you can eat cauliflower crust pizza.

I was able to eat pizza. I was able to eat just half of it but it tasted wonderful. It was olive, mushroom and cheese. There is nothing wrong with a slice of pizza now and then.

At 2.5 weeks post op ( now 3) pizza is not on the OPs plan. Telling her its ok is bad advice

Check the ingredients of the cauliflower crust, in my experience many have alternative flours and are actually less healthy for you and are also higher in carbs than regular pizza dough.

Additionally as many have stated pizza this early post op,probably not the best decision, think of your new stomach and the acid that comes with pizza sauce. You could be causing severe damage to your new healing belly

Once I hit soft foods, I made this... very good!

I used MyFitnessPal app to plug the ingredients in their recipes section.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
