Cristal722 2 Posted August 3, 2018 I'm 2 1/2 weeks post-op and I'm craving pizza. Wondering will it be ok to eat the cheese and sauce off a slice of pizza.Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app 2 Frustr8 and jo ann c troupe reacted to this
Swanton_Bomb 522 Posted August 3, 2018 I think that kind of cheese would come right back up at that stage (I'm assuming you are on purees) If you are allowed to have ricotta cheese I have seen a recipe for a ricotta bake where you mix ricotta with Tomato sauce, maybe that would kill the craving? 2 Cristal722 and jo ann c troupe reacted to this

RickM 1,752 Posted August 4, 2018 Yes, ask your surgeon's team to see how that would fit in at this point. Picking the toppings off of pizza and leaving the crust behind is a classic WLS solution, progression dependent. Soft cheeses like mozzarella were fine the first week in our program (individual tolerance depending...) but not sure how that fits with your program, or how the baked on cheese fits, compared to the raw cheese. 3 Frustr8, GreenTealael and jo ann c troupe reacted to this
jaksmommy 8 Posted August 5, 2018 @RickM your answer just rocked my world. I might not be so sad when I see pizza commercials. it’s definitely too soon for me, but what a great idea in a few months. 1 jo ann c troupe reacted to this
Matt Z 4,139 Posted August 6, 2018 Cauli-Power pizza is pretty damn good and since the "crust" is vegetables, it's ok to eat! They are expensive considering, but... when you want pizza and can't eat pizza... you can eat cauliflower crust pizza. 2 msblossom67 and jo ann c troupe reacted to this
apositivelife4me 189 Posted August 8, 2018 I was able to eat pizza. I was able to eat just half of it but it tasted wonderful. It was olive, mushroom and cheese. There is nothing wrong with a slice of pizza now and then. 1 jo ann c troupe reacted to this

Telling her its ok is bad advice 3 Wanda247, jo ann c troupe and mooreva0725 reacted to this

Check the ingredients of the cauliflower crust, in my experience many have alternative flours and are actually less healthy for you and are also higher in carbs than regular pizza dough. Additionally as many have stated pizza this early post op,probably not the best decision, think of your new stomach and the acid that comes with pizza sauce. You could be causing severe damage to your new healing bellySent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app 3 Wanda247, jo ann c troupe and GreenTealael reacted to this
