I’m on phase 2 of my post op regimen...I miss food so much!!! 😭 When can we eat seafood again? I need a bowl of seviche (Peruvian dish) Has anyone had any issues with fish, shrimp, crab or lobster?

I did but, I rather hear what ppl that actually went through the surgery have to say. Thanks

My nutritionist said fish was one of the first real foods we could try (salmon, flounder, tilapia, etc.) after about a month, then shrimp. She recommended waiting quite a while for lobster because it can be rubbery, and I would imagine that would be the case for clams, squid, etc. If you are really craving those favors perhaps you can add cerviche seasonings such as cilantro to a fish based broth?

What is phase 2 for you ? It varies greatly from plan to plan?

If you are seeking validation to eat items that are not recommended on your diet plan or stage you might not receive that advice here.

We are all adults here and diets are advanced after surgery to allow proper healing of the staple line so eating unapproved foods is at your own risk. Either ask for permission to advance your diet from your bariatric team or nutritionist. I wouldn’t seek validation to eat off plan from strangers on the internet.

Good Luck.

Whoa! Validation?! LoL, it’s a simple question.... Has nothing to do with validation. I was just wondering what other ppls experiences are. I take this process very serious but some of the ppl on this site are overboard. I guess random questions aren’t welcome here. My bad.

I’d ask your nutritionist . With my plan I ate haddock with no problem. I just this week tried shrimp at 7+ months out and it went ok but they were the really small mini shrimp. I’d be hesitant to eat lobster or mussels etc just because they’re hard to chew to mush and I’d imagine them getting stuck
Good luck

At about 10 days out, it sounds way too early for ceviche ....

But when you're cleared for all foods, I've had no problem with any food, including ceviche, and lots of different seafoods, raw and cooked.

Oh noooo! I wouldn’t even think of trying it now. I just want an idea of what I can look forward too. Thank you so much for your input! @sillykitty

All plans are different I am 10 day post op and still on liquids phase 2 but on phase 3 14 to 20 day after surgery we can have chopped shrimp salad. I am also with you because I am a big seafood eater. I just hope my taste buds still like it, my taste buds have changed some of the stuff like yogurt and Jello now I can not stand.

I ate salmon at about 4 weeks post op, shrimp at 8 weeks, and other fish closer to 10 weeks. I wouldn't say any seafood is off limits for me now, depending on the preparation.

I'd just recommend be patient and all those things can be integrated back in a couple months. It can take up to 3 months for your stomach to fully heal. I'd recommend treating it like a new born baby.

@AshAsh1 I’m def holding tight, I just wanted to see if there were other ppl who’s “been there, done that” could share their experiences with seafood.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
