Well,

Today my inch-thick file was all faxed over to Cigna for approval. We will just see if they hold up to their 15 bus. day approval.

I sure hope they do... the barriatric center went ahead and gave me a surgery date of November 30th with the understanding that it is easier to cancel a surgery than it is to get me under the knife on short notice. The 15 days is up on the 28th, so this is going to be a tight squeeze! I just pray that God can work wonders in the insurance industry! I am on cobra insurance now because my new job's insurance does not cover ANY barriatric surgeries! If I can have the surgery before December, I will not have to cobra that month!

Just a word of caution...you may want to keep your cobra for a while post-op, because there are follow up visits and fills and such. Just a thought :)

Keep us posted...we're routing for ya! :whoo:

Thanks for the heads up! I asked by insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office about this today. She said that my first year of appointments are all free. (included in the price that insurance pays) This should cover me it sounds like.

A word of praise! The insurance coordinator called me today and said that apparently the way my insurance is set up, after I jumped through all their hoops, I was automatically qualified and approved! that came MUCH faster than I thought it would!!!!!!!!!! I just submitted to insurance on the 7th.

I will have surgery the last week of November. WOW that is just a few weeks away! I already have the 30th set up as a surgery date, but I think I will bump it up a couple days to make sure my stay in the hospital is covered. I think if I have surgery on the 30th, and get discharged on the 1st of December, they may not cover the first, because I canceled the insurance on the first of Dec.

enough of my rambling... this is really going to happen!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
