Chrisb428 626 Posted August 1, 2018 (edited) I am curious as to how often you all see your surgeon post op - gastric bypass? Edited August 1, 2018 by Chrisb428
KimTriesRNY 1,853 Posted August 1, 2018 After the first few follow ups that were after surgery, I think one was two weeks, then one month, mine are every three months for the first year so far. I have had a three month follow up, six month follow up, and my nine month follow up is in September. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

My first three month appointment I think my surgeon was not impressed but at my six month appointment he was pretty wowed. He was even asking to see a before picture! The difference in my life already is hard to quantify compared to where I was eight months ago. I have lost 137 pounds from my high weight last year and have 53 pounds left to go to hit my first real goal. It’s a staggering amount. This surgery saved my life and I’m thankful everyday for the chance I was given and hope everyone is given the same chance that is battling obesity. Some of us have different opinions on here but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I like reading other peoples thoughts and ideas even if they aren’t the same and I enjoy the support I get here. 1 BeeCat reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted August 2, 2018 I could tell you the intervals former bariatric program had because I still have their booklet lying, around. But my upcoming ones at OSU- kind of strange? I meet August 24 with Anesthesia Resident- this is new one to me. I am allergic to Hibicleanse, tried to express this the day I had my surgery date locked in. I was told to tell anesthesia they would know what else I could use. Hunnnh? And any other times I have had surgery. and I have had 7 as an adult, I met anethesia for a few minutes, if not merely a few seconds before,i went off to La La Land. So whaRF are they doing things this way. IDK- YGGAM, there's some new Bariatric Intials for the 1 Chrisb428 reacted to this

Sadiebug 206 Posted August 2, 2018 I saw/will see the surgeon at 1 month, 6 months, 12 months (bloodwork), 18 months, 24 months (bloodwork) and then annually from then on. My program also has dietitians on staff that we are 'required' to see at the same appointments as above but they are also available for appointments in between as often as we want. I choose to meet with them once a month - and they are very quick to order bloodwork or refer to the surgeons if they suspect any issues. I wish my program had one at 2 weeks because I felt like a month was a long time to struggle through without any support. 1 Chrisb428 reacted to this
