Today is my second day on my liquid diet. I was wondering if it would be wise to eat a small amount of oatmeal in the morning every 2-3days?

Although I have my Protein Shake and Clear Liquids, I think I'm going to struggle. I can really use some support and advice.

Does your pre-op diet say you can have oatmeal? It sucks, but it's best to just do what your doctors have told you to do... if you are having an issue, contact them and talk to them about your problems with the diet. Everyone has had a different pre-op diet, so changes *shouldn't* cause any issues, but there are doctors that will cancel a surgery if you haven't followed what *they* stated you should be doing for your pre-op. So, best to stick to it as best you can and only make changes that have been approved by them.

Stay strong, it's only tough for a few days, then it gets easier. Cheating makes it harder, personal experience.

It is best to stick to the plan you were given. It is definitely hard. I’m two days away from my surgery and I’m 25 lbs down. I would say speak to your doctor about adding any solid foods.

Best of luck. And have faith in yourself. Remember why you are on this journey.

I'm on my second day too. My doctor gave me a list of acceptable Snacks and oatmeal is on that list but I agree with what everyone else has said and stick to what your doctor has told you. It's hard Im totally there with you but we can do this! When is your surgery? Mine's the 13th.

I'm on my second day and today wasn't so good for me. My surgery is also on the 13th. I feel so guilty because I went to work at my second job where they serve a buffet style cafetiere for all employees and I eat a hotdog and bun. Now I feel awful.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
