Stage 3/week 3 post op diet

Recommended Posts

So my packet states everything should be pureed but i've talked to others and as long as everything moist and chewed thoroughly I should muster through this stage. I've cooked 90% lean gr beef in unsalted beef broth first, mostly drained then added sloppy joe sauce which is not that awful in the calorie/sodium intake. Believe it or not low fat cottage cheese has more sodium. I also made canned chicken salad (in its own water) and mixed with health heart brand low fat mayo. Beef and the canned chicken were in packet. My new stomach aka STAN (yes i've named him) tolerated the beef but i could only eat a few small spoonfuls and as instructed chewed the hell out of it before swallowing--very difficult to get used to but necessary. Also, no drinking during, 30 min b4 or after. Truly I felt full/pressure after what I ate and wanted no part of drinking. Also if you don't pour a drink for meal, its not there - no temptation. Things are moist no need to wash down. My friend also suggested cooking chicken in low fat/sodium cream of chicken Soup. I thought this was a great idea .

Any one else have recipies or ideas for week 3???? please share

I'm supposed to be on full liquids for 3 weeks post surgery then soft food for 4 weeks before having anything solid, Right now I am only 1 week post surgery and I completlely understand wanting real food. Good luck with your food choices, I hope your are sufficiantly healed and don't have any compications from rushing things,

I am with BeeCat. I am also on full liquids for 3 weeks. I am in my 2nd week. I go for my 2 week follow up next week and should receive my diet plan for Weeks 4-6. Just take it easy and try not to rush it.

My puréed menu basically consisted of tuna pouches, canned chicken, I used Greek yogurt instead of mayo to make chicken/tuna salad, cottage cheese, yogurt, baked sweet potato with a scoop of flavor free Protein Powder, fat free pudding with scoop of Protein powder, sugar free Italian ice & popsicles, omelet with cheese, imitation crab (not high in protein but needed a change of flavors), baked fish.....and tons of Protein Drinks. Favorite was blending 4oz of almond milk, with 3-4 frozen strawberries, 1/2 frozen banana and scoop of vanilla flavor protein.

U all must have diff instructions than I bc I am not steering away from my instructions. You do realize as well different doctors and hospital programs are slightly different. Actually had my first follow up today with PA and I'm doing great according to her. I only eat a few bites each meal chew thoroughly and I'm full. Not drinking 30 min b4 or after either. My only issue thus far is going to the bathroom 🚽. Not pleasant.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
