Hard lump under incision

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 1 week post-op. The swelling in my belly is going down, but I've been getting pain from stretching, mostly in my sleep when I'm laying down. I've noticed hard lumps under 2 of my incisions. They're higher up on the belly. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Other than that, I'm exercising daily and doing everything I'm supposed to be doing. Just my sleep is lacking.

Yep mine feel the same. I’m 12 days post op. And when I stretch it sort of looks like there is a small area under the incision that is like cinched? Not sure how to describe it. Like maybe there is a stitch in the fascia.

That's a good way of putting it. It feels a lot like a cyst. Hopefully they go away.

Have this too. I'm three weeks postop. They said this is normal and takes time to go down.

I was told there are internal dissolvable stitches under the top layer of skin on my incisions. Only one feels hard under but when I stretch it looks like something is trying to poke out of my belly. I'm 18 days out, I'm sure after some time it will go away.

Yup. I went to the ER when I noticed the lump under my largest incision. Imaging found nothing to worry about. My surgeon told me it’s just normal tissue inflammation that will go away with time. I’ll be 7 weeks out Wednesday and the lump is gone.

I remember another poster a month or 2 back, was posting to ask about,it because she said,it looked like a big goofy dimple. Said while she was posting, she felt a ping, looked down and it had flattened out. Still asked him at her next office visit, he chuckled, said it was a re-enforcing stitch, which would, release when your innards were healed enough. She joked that she thought she would have it forever, and had considered putting a decorative jewel in it!

I have the same thing. it reminds me of when you have a piercing and there is a hard bump as well. I think it's built up scar tissue. You might not be far enough out though for us to be talking about the same thing. Either way, I'd say its probably internal sutures and/or inflammation. I wouldn't put too much worry or pressure on those spots though.

Thanks everyone! What a relief that those bumps will go away.

I have this too under 2 of mine....I also had it under my C-section incision and it went away over time.

It is most likely the formation of scar tissue. Sometimes they go away, but not always. I have lots of scar tissue on my abdomen and it is hard, lumpy, and hair will not grow on it anymore...
