Bone Broth and Collagen Protein

Recommended Posts

continuously doing my research for my surgery isn't until August 23. I want to make sure that aside from my supplements that will be needed that I get all the nutrients possible.

I've been taking supplements to ramp up prior as well. I came across the benefits or Bone Broth rather than just " broth" you buy at the store. Was wondering if anyone else made their own??

for my liquid diet portion, i'm gonna crock pot a large batch. Articles are saying that that it's excellent for speeding healing, Helps heal and seal your gut, promotes healthy digestions, inhibits infection, reduces joint pain and inflammation, fights inflammation, promotes healthy hair and nail growth and promote strong healthy bones!!!

Score!!! WHY NOT !!

I'm an avid pinterest queen. Love all the recipes. found several for both chicken and beef bone broth.

Another product my friend told me about. "Collagen Protein powder". she adds hers to her coffee everyday. I'm sure down the road when I'm at that point in my journey I will try as well. Researched the benefits of this product too:

stronger joints

faster recovery

smoother skin ( not sure what will happen with all the skin)

just thought I would share. off course I will talk to my doctor about the collagen first.

I think that’s a fantastic idea! At the very least, collegan and Bone Broth can’t hurt. It’s supposed to be so good for your gut health. I’ve gotten into reading about my microbiome lately and I wish that I had started “healing my gut” earlier!!

I’ve been taking collagen too! Hoping it helps with the skin tightening postop.

Actually, that's about the best thing that can be said about it. Collagen/gellatin is about the most common Protein there is, it's an incomplete protein that has a poor amino acid profile. Basically all of the amino acids that are at a surplus in your body already.

The only difference between the expensive collagen protein powders and Jell-O (aside from flavors) is that the Proteins have been processed further to break them down into smaller particles. Oh, and collagen won't gel. Nutritionally speaking, same thing. If you look on a box of Jell-O, it states that the FDA does not consider it a significant source of protein because of the low quality of the protein. However, since collagen is being sold as a supplement, it does not get regulated by the FDA.

I know, I was upset too after buy turmeric Bone Broth powder to use in cooking. That stuff wasn't cheap! Tasted good though.

Be aware that all of these benefits are so new they are mostly marketing speak. There was a time that cigarettes were toted as healthy!

I use Bone Broth sometimes to get my Protein in. I prefer the chicken flavor because all of the other flavors smell like meat, anyway, regardless of their packaged flavor. I also like that some, like the brand I buy, can be mixed warm. However, bone broth tends to be very salty...check your sodium levels. I don’t cook with or use salt on anything so when I do drink bone broth, it’s not a huge issue. It does, however, taste incredibly salty to me.
