Frustr8 7,886 Posted July 31, 2018 Hunh didn't I read somewhere @ sinderliny that you can't. take Iron and Calcium at the same time as your Multivitamin , something about cancelling each other out? So are you sure this is the right way to go? Hate for anyone to waste their $, they are so hard to come by!😘
DeanaNJ 25 Posted July 31, 2018 I have read that before. The chewables that people said they like were totally gross to me. Going to have to experiment yourself since everyone is different
LL44 8 Posted July 31, 2018 thanks everyone... this has def been a learning curve... today was the first day with minimal pain and I finally had a BM ( sorry if that's TMI)
singerliny 4 Posted July 31, 2018 It's only Calcium and Iron that cancel each other out. Some multis have iron and/or calcium. You have to read labels. I'd always stick with a bariatric-specific Vitamin. Our needs are different. The Celebrate has everything except the iron because they know they can't put it with the calcium. They sell iron separately. However iron can be found much more easily in local stores. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
singerliny 4 Posted July 31, 2018 ... Also you shouldn't supplement Iron unless directed by your doctor. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
CyclicalLoser 155 Posted July 31, 2018 singerliny, I currently take the Celebrate Multi-45 Vitamins per my doctor. I can't say I like the watermelon flavor, but I have the citrus on order. Nevertheless, it has 45mg of Iron in each pill and does not contain the Calcium. The 500mg of calcium I take (3x a day) is via calcium chews (My "candy" for the day LOL). They have several different iron amounts, 18, 36, 45 and 60mg. Like I said, I'm not a fan of the flavor, but it does make it easy because you just have a Vitamin and a calcium supplement instead of fistfuls of pills LOL. https://www.celebratevitamins.com/shop/multi-with-iron.html 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
elmatador 167 Posted July 31, 2018 The GNC chewables (cherry) are tolerable ... I've eaten worse things, for sure! 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

singerliny 4 Posted July 31, 2018 Celebrate does have a $10 sample pack that they ship for free. It comes with a $10 coupon. The sample pack has TONS of options to try. That's where I found the Essential Multi 2 in 1. I figure I don't want to have to manage too manage supplements and pills. Now I just have one bottle to deal with and remember. My doctor hasn't ordered Iron for me at this point, so I haven't purchased. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
TeeJay84 33 Posted July 31, 2018 The Celebrate chewable vitamins are vile. But the calcium citrate is pretty delicious. Especially the cherry tart flavor. I’ve tried orange burst too and that’s pretty good. I take the Flintstones chewable Vitamins. They have to be the “complete” kind. I take two a day and they provide all the vitamins I need, besides B12. I get a monthly injection.
Frustr8 7,886 Posted July 31, 2018 I am still trying to learn more, I am currently on non-chewable prenatal Vitamins because I do need the Fe(iron) post- menopausal but iron-deficient to the edge of Frank anemia. I like my little hard-covered caplets, no indigestion from them, going to be a SAD parting when they,go away. Never did care much for those hard to chew flavored vitamins. I am a denture wearer and if they insist on switching me I see a pill grinder, and a large jar of unsweetened applesauce or a gallon container,of low calorie Cool Whip to put that in. Right now I take the prenatal, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Magnesium, Calcium. citrate, I take Wellesse liquid and I have additional Iron tabs in reserve for how my next blood test fares. And then we have my usual regular type meds, 7 different varieties to squeeze,in. Right now I have 2 kinds that kind of feud. I have Depakote for Migraines and Wellbutrin to keep me calm and placid until (and maybe after) surgery. Depakote causes Wellbutrin to build up in your system, and since my poor NASH liver is peeved enough I'm trying to make IT reduce in size and fattiness, I don't want to rock that boat🚣 Oh, I'll get through this all. many have before,me and many afterwards will also. Don't have time to add any more other outside activities, too busy juggling Pills.💊🍶💊
singerliny 4 Posted July 31, 2018 Don't forget that post op all meds need to be crushed for a few months.
cherylcasper 4 Posted August 1, 2018 I use the Bariatric Fusion in orange cream and it’s pretty good.
jtneigh@hotmail.com 1 Posted August 1, 2018 I am post op one week as of today. I am really have a hard time following the liquid soft diet right after surgery. I am seeing my dr tomorrow and I will tell h about my slip up three days after surgery I ate a piece of smoked sausage. I paid the price for that and learned from that mistake. I am still trying to find a good place to get Vitamins without having to order them. Any recommendations?
AngelaZ 10 Posted August 1, 2018 I like my Bariatric Advantage calcium chews (in caramel). They actually do taste like caramel. I hated the same brand’s chewable Multivitamin (so gross), but I stuck it out for 2.5 months because my doc wanted me to start on chewable and prefers I stick with multis that are specifically made for Bariatric patients. I have graduated from chewables and now take the Celebrate multivitamin in capsule form (no chewing necessary just swallow whole with water). My BariMelts Biotin tastes good. I think it’s some sort of berry flavor. I also take Vitamin D drops. They are oily and taste slightly like grass, but you I only taste it for a second or two, so no big deal.
