Drinking Too Much Too Fast

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I had my sleeve done on 7/17 and I’ve been okay with drinking everything but Water really. I just woke up and was really thirsty so I poured myself 8 ounces of fat free milk. Before I knew it I had drank all of of it. I mean in like two minutes. My stomach feels a little bloated but I don’t feel “sick”. I can also eat two sugar free pops back to back.

Have I stretched my sleeve or could I be at risk of a leak? I’m just worried that I’m doing too much too soon.

First, you didn't stretch your sleeve.

Second, many of us struggle to get in enough Water, even well after surgery. My recommendation is to have water nearby at all times. I have some right near me as I type this! Having it nearby will make it easier to take sips more often.

Good luck to you! You are not alone!

Totally fine. While you shouldn't take big gulps, once the swelling has gone down, you should be able to drink pretty much normally.

liquids won't stretch your pouch and you won't really start to feel restriction until you move on to soft foods. Believe me, you'll understand the difference when you get there! Congrats on doing so well!
