I found a few links to help you get started. I would recommend searching under "strength training" / "weight training" / "resistance training" AND "bariatric surgery" on Google or another search engine.

A past discussion on this forum:

It shouldn't matter that this is about a woman's journey. It's all good.

@Missouri-Lee's Summit thank you.The next time I see my gastric team I’m going to see if they will print out my metric.I have been tested for cancer, autoimmune diseases etc.The only thing they can suggest is a lot of my weight issues are stress related. And I know I could do a better job at eating better food, but that’s a whole story in itself😂

What's your barrier to eating better food? If it's financial, I'm sure there are many ways to cut corners and still enjoy healthy meals. I used to live in Wisconsin, but I'm not familiar with your city. Are you far from grocery stores? Do you have a garden? Are you able to afford your Vitamins? (If you have to choose between food and your vitamins because you can't afford both, I might be able to help you with your vitamins.)

I was serious about helping you get the Vitamins you need. Let me know if your circumstances change.

A lot of women can't cook either. I'm not one of those women, but I know several.

Maybe the people on this forum can suggest some very healthy meals that don't require much cooking knowledge. It's worth a try, right?

I hesitate to say this because I don't know how the breakup is affecting your son, but based on what you've shared so far, you're both (you and your son) better off. Do you expect to get full custody? All that money your soon-to-be ex spent on a video game can't look very good to a judge.

I will suggest buying a crockpot , and looking up meals for it. You basically put everything in and set it- come home to good food . But YouTube is also a great place to go for free training advice on how to get started with a program.

@George OG Am I assuming correctly that your (soon-to-be ex) mother-in-law is planning to testify against her daughter?

@George OG for muscle growth you really don't need to hammer down the Proteins, you just need to be a bit smarter about them. Casein Protein taken at night, is a slow acting protein that helps repair and build muscle mass overnight while you sleep.< br />
For muscle growth, find out what your 1 rep max is, just like it sounds, this is the max amount of weight you can only lift once and that's it. If you can lift it twice, that's not your 1 rep max weight. Once you know what your max is for that body part, reduce it by 20% and do 8-12 reps, 4 sets. Growth takes time though, but if you keep up with this method, you'll gain mass.

There are lots of other different types of sets you can do, but if you focus mainly on doing 8-12 reps at 80% of your max for 4 sets... you'll be good. Don't worry about anything else extra for your intake, outside from lots and lots of Water.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
